Foreword
All the stories have come from my real life in England, but are not 100 % true. Such as for legal reasons I have changed the names. It is like a piece of wood that needs carving then becomes a work of art.
‘You good me good’ are the book’s soul, the story’s spirit, the author’s sincere wish and life philosophy.
A great Chinese said: There are various appearances and behaviours if the people numbers over one hundred
. In my life, I had met the variety, I can accept the variety, I am enjoying the variety and I like to introduce the varieties to everybody by my pen.
It is the same as a Chinese saying: people have different views therefore the opinions differ
, but to lift an autumn hair does not signify great strength; to see the sun and moon does not signify good sight; to hear the thunderclap does not signify acute hearing
. I couldn’t just copy the facts, I have to bring them with my feelings and thoughts.
As an over 40 years old Chinese man, living in England for nearly two years, I couldn’t give up some Chinese ways or the orient’s traditional thoughts. But under modern condition, as the globe became a small village, the human became a big family
, combined the cultures of west and east together is not only wise, but also this is the best way to deal with everything in the new era.
As my wife had said You don’t have the inborn capabilities to write, how will you to write down English stories?
I think the big enemy is myself, not my English or writing capabilities. I don’t like to be in a rut and have to struggle and challenge myself.
In this book, the fish experiences came from the best fish house and fish keepers. Of course, for individual situation you need to refer the authoritative fish knowledge book or to inquire the specialist. The sales skills came from an excellent sales team who have always broken the sales records in their Company. The life ideals was the crystals of a happy man’s experiences and influenced by deep ancient Chinese culture.
Somebody told me to illustrate some photos or cartoons with the writing. I definitely agree with them and thanks for the good idea. But I think my dear readers they are able to do this individually by themselves, by multi-imaging when they are reading and it help me to complete it.
This book is my ‘first baby’ in England, maybe not very used the custom and made some mistakes. I am sorry about that and cross finger to wish he can grow up smoothly. Any way, Open book and you gain.
I hope you enjoy the stories.
Join me, I will share with you.
Introduction
I am very lucky to work alongside Jing Wang who is responsible for the up keep of the fish house inside as well as our substantial fish system for outside fish such as Koi Carp and Goldfish. I employed Jing in March 2005 and his determination and hard work has earned him a lot of respect within the Garden Centre. The success of the business very much relies on teamwork of which he is a key part.
‘You good me good’ so meaningful, there is a saying: The style is the man
. His short stories have come about through events that have taken place at the Garden Centre as well as Jing’s second job as a delivery driver for pizza company, and of course his private life. It is English life told through the eyes of a Chinese man. I had the pleasure of reading these stories and feel they are truthful, funny and ideal.
Because of the Chinese way the English may not be perfect, but to change it would mean to take out the character and funny aspects of his stories as I’m sure you will agree. Chinese sayings translated into English give this book an honest humour with a serious side that makes you think.
Reading the book will give you an insight into a small chapter of Jing’s life with honest observations which make for an entertaining read.
I hope you enjoy it as much I have.
By the way, I would pleasurably like to tell you what about Jing Wang, his family and his book, the Farnham Herald newspaper of 15th December 2006 had made a more detail reported using a big space on page 10, if you like you can visit the web site:

Chapter One:
In The Garden Centre
Our garden centre was Well garden centre, now it is Evergreen garden centre. It is southwest of London, just between Guildford and Farnham by the A31, about one point five square miles in size. There are Eight departments: Aquatics, Pets, plants, Sundries, Furniture, Gifts, Station and Restaurant. There are about hundred staff working in the garden centre.
In our garden centre, everything is vivid, everywhere is fully fragrant, and catches your eyes. I was so happy to work with so many kind, friendly colleagues. We are talking, chatting, making jokes and learning from each other. You can hear the laughing, you can see the smiling, you can ask
