INTRODUCTION
W e, men, would like to give the best of who we are, before we leave this world. But we don’t know who we are and how we came to be.
In 2015, there was a movie called, Still Alice
, with Julianne Moore and Alec Baldwin. They were a married couple living in New York City. Alice was a professor at Columbia University who suffers from an early onset of Alzheimer’s. Her husband was a medical doctor. Alice’s condition is rapid and downward. Her physician tells her that she has six months of cognition left. With this in mind, her husband tells her that he has taken a position at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and they must leave in a week. Alice is stunned. She tells her husband that her last months need to be spent here. Her physicians are here. Her family is here. Her good friends are here. All of her support system is here in New York City. She cannot leave. Oh,
he says, you’ll make friends in Minnesota.
Alice looks at him and realizes that he has no idea concerning her illness, nor does he care.
What, in God’s name is wrong with him? He is a male and he believes it is all about him. How has this man gotten to this selfish stage? He has no idea as to what this move could do to his wife. What is he thinking? This is what this book will explore. What is wrong with my gender? We’ll see.
