Donald Walker
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the fall of 1949, Donald has always been driven by a profound desire to explore and explain almost everything surrounding him. Consequently, as a young child, Donald’s toys rarely lasted more than a few days. He was constantly breaking them apart, curious about the internal operation of their various components. That often caused his younger brother (Kenneth) concern for the safety of his own toys. Donald, who grew up loving music, started playing the drums at the age of ten. After graduating from high school, he took a group of twelve musicians on road. Their journey, which lasted more than two decades, took them across the United States, Canada, and Asia. That gave Donald the opportunity to experience many different people and a variety of different cultures—experiences he will never forget. Donald wrote about the time he spent in music in his book The Unknown Musician. From those experiences, Donald learned many things, the most important being the common desire people had to simply be happy. All across the globe, no matter what their goals were, people just wanted to be happy. With that in mind, Donald decided to write this book, dedicating its contents to a world where everyone just wants to be happy.

PREFACE
In my attempt to bring an alternative perspective to those who view life as a complex set of circumstances, which they have little or no control over, presents me with a great deal of challenges. I say this because many of the subjects brought-forth in this book cannot be scientifically proven; add that to the vast number of people who are so strong in their beliefs, they will never accept any evidence to the contrary, no matter what the source. Nonetheless, it would be grossly irresponsible of me not to at least make the effort. That being said, I can only hope the benefits presented in this book, will be as rewarding to others, as it has been, and continues to be for me.
INTRODUCTION TO A SIMPLER LIFE
When the season
is right, the flowers will
bloom, and harmony
shall fill the air.
If you could peer down from the outer regions of the universe, you will see an endless cluster of organic matter, interacting in perfect harmony. Focusing closer to the heavens directly above our own solar system, you will see this same harmonious relationship between earth and its neighboring planets as they pay homage to the Sun. The view from afar would certainly suggest that harmony throughout our entire universe is an absolute reality. In the mist of all this harmony, there will certainly be occasional disruptions, but these disruptions will always prove to be justified by the end results. This is nature fully revealed, which by definition always seeks to yield perfection.
Being surrounded by so much harmony one would think that man, with his ability to make decisions, would naturally mirror his universe, and be the epitome of perfection. A reasonable analysis for sure, but far from the truth. Before our lens reaches the earth's surface, it is all too evident, man is dwelling in a state of complete contrast to the perfection his universe otherwise displays.

When it comes to perfection, man certainly has had his share of problems. When man first came into existence, he relied mainly on his instincts to survive. This is not surprising, because we, like all living creatures, were born with certain inherent qualities that help us understand what is necessary for our continued existence. During man's primitive years, he was very good at understanding and blending with his surroundings. But unlike any other creature, man was given the ability to make decisions, and with this ability, he had the option to venture away from his natural instincts, freeing him to go in whatever direction he so desired. Some would call this progress, but any act that fails to take into account the natural order of the universe, will set in motion an array of destructive events. These seemingly destructive events is nature's way of counteracting any, and all forces opposite to itself. Simply put, nature treats all acts as necessary, and reacts accordingly. When man began exercising his ability to make decisions, and increasingly placed his natural instincts aside, he opened the door to forces which will eventually lead to his demise.
Our lives, like the universe, is filled with a multitude of complex activities, all interacting to achieve one purpose. And although our activities may seem quite complex in nature, they are all based on the concept of simplicity. For example, the entire universe and everything in it, is composed of the same basic material, the atom. Atoms are everywhere, a real condition that eliminates the possibility of empty space. From atoms, matter is formed. Matter can only exist in four different states: solid, liquid, gas or ionized gas defined as plasma. The basic difference between one form of matter from any other form of matter is the arrangements of its atoms. It makes no difference if we are comparing a man to a mountain, both are formed from the unique arrangements of their atoms. To further illustrate the simplicity of nature, all forms of matter, rather we consider it living or not, are programmed to compliment each other. This is the harmony that nature seeks. This is the harmony that nature demands. Since all forms of matter are derived from the same substance, and this substance is everywhere, then all matter must also be interrelated. Man is no exception. This includes his connection with his fellowman. And despite the fact that his actions may [at times] appear to be complex and confusing, like the simplicity of nature, his actions are all aimed at achieving one specific goal. This goal is his endless desire to be happy. Man's happiness is the only condition that nature requires of him. No one is excluded, and no one can deviate from their desire to be happy.
As stated in the aforementioned, nature gave man the ability to make decisions, and therefore the ability to do whatever he feels is necessary to achieve his goal of being happy. However, before man can be successful in his quest for happiness, he must first understand the connection he has with everything beyond his own physical existence. What does this mean? Simply put, every act that man commits will, in some way, affect everyone, and everything else.
Let's say for example your body represents the entire universe. If you press a sharp object against the center of your chest, the pain will be felt, not only in your chest, but also throughout your entire body. Of course the focus of the pain would be centered in your chest, but your entire body will be affected. Once the object is removed, the point of contact, together with the rest of your body will feel the relief. The same principle holds true with pleasure. Applying a massage to an aching back will, undoubtedly, spread the pleasure from the area of the back, out to the rest of the body. From this we can safely conclude, what affects one area of the body, also affects the entire body. This is a perfect example of how our universe is tied to us by its physical properties. But physical properties only represent half the equation. To complete our connection, we would need to introduce forces which extend beyond our physical attributes. To illustrate this, let's take two people and call them John and Mary.

John and Mary are very close
to each other. John learns that Mary has
recently been diagnosed with a
terminal disease and has
only a short time to live. John suddenly
experiences a certain amount
of physical and emotional
discomfort generated by the
knowledge of
Mary's condition.
The device which transferred the discomfort from Mary to John is not something that can be defined as physical. It was transferred through their emotional attachment, and although their attachment cannot be physically seen, no one will dispute the fact that it is real. From this scenario we can also conclude, people are connected to each other by forces which are both seen (atoms) and unseen (emotional attachments). Taking it one step further, there are many documented cases where people are able to feel the physical discomforts of others, long before they are actually informed. Unfortunately, since these particular cases are comprised of situations that completely eliminate the possibility
