A Gemini Influence
Mercury and Venus both enter Gemini fairly early this month – Mercury on May 3; Venus on May 8 – so we’ll all experience a Gemini-related undertone. Because Mercury turns retrograde on May 29 he’ll stay in his own sign for quite a bit longer than usual (over eight weeks, as he doesn’t leave until July 11), whereas Venus, traveling more than a degree a day, leaves on June 2, less than a month from when she enters. Because the transiting positions of the inner planets by sign tell us something about the general tenor of many of our ordinary interactions, we should expect, beneath collective malaise, a somewhat chatty, curious, and communicative atmosphere, at least until the final days of the month, when transiting Mars in Cancer closes in on his opposition to transiting Pluto, an aspect that will bring a more serious tone to things.
Mercury rules Gemini, of course, and both sign and planet have a reputation for communication that is either careless or too facile. However, though we can admit that the Mercury-Gemini connection sometimes falls too much and too blindly in love with words, we should not claim
