Aquarius Stellium Survival Guide; What You Need to Know About the Shift to the Air Age - Angela Kaufman

    Letter to the Reader

    Dear Reader,

First, thank you for reading this guide.

How was your 2020? If you’re like most of us, you began this year with high hopes and are seeing it off with the exhaustion of a parent whose ten toddlers have eaten through a bag of chocolate and are now running around the house throwing plates at the wall, all while the dog is barking, and part of the roof has just collapsed.

Maybe you’re more keenly aware of what you value, what you want to prioritize, and what you never want to take for granted. Maybe you’re feeling humbled by the thought that all our advancements as a species and all our attempts to control and contain and find security are still limited in the grand scheme of things.

At the end of 2019, a handful of Astrologers were writing about the Stellium in Capricorn that began in late 2019 and continued into 2020. Some of these Astrologers were honest about the hardship and tension these transits would create, yet many quite popular Astrology sites wrote about this phenomenon with rose colored glasses.

It occurred to me as 2020 unfolded, just how valuable Astrology can be in helping people to prepare for what is unexpected. That is, when the Astrologer values honesty more than viral shares on social media. You see, the key to social media success is to strip your message down to something that is simple to understand and evokes strong emotions. Playing into narcissism or fear works particularly well.

Yet life is complicated, and the realities aren’t so easily watered down into clickbait. Not only did Astrologers with respectable followings miss the boat on providing an authentic view of what this important Stellium meant, but far too many in the spiritual community missed the opportunity to use our gifts and understanding to try to help our community during the greatest time of upheaval and confusion that we have collectively faced.

While I didn’t know that 2020 would feature a pandemic specifically, understanding the transits, including the Stellium in Capricorn, helped prepared me for the expectation that major changes that involve restriction, exposing corruption and challenging our traditions in government and finances were on the horizon.

But even this basic awareness helped me to accept that 2020 was not going to be a year for expansion or growth, but a year of restriction, evaluation, a year in which self-discipline and responsibility were in the forefront and in which duty, obligation and harsh lessons would supersede fun and games.

And as I write this, on the eve of the much-hyped Winter Solstice Grand Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn on December 21, 2020, another opportunity is being lost. Once again, the content creation machine is cranking out superficial, narcissistic, simplified and sometimes downright inaccurate interpretations of what this phenomenon means.

Last night, as I complained about the millionth time about this watering down of important spiritual concepts, the hijacking of the spiritual community by corporate interests, and the blatant irresponsibility and dishonesty of clickbait friendly messages that gain traction but offer nothing of value in our darkest times, I contemplated withdrawing altogether from the community, reasoning that people don’t want honesty, but flattery. Understanding that sensationalism sells, while more complicated concepts fall by the wayside.

But over the last 24 hours, I’ve come to see it differently. Instead of giving up, I decided to create this guide as an honest account of what I believe we can expect of the major transits in 2021 and how we can best prepare. Based on my understanding of Astrology and desire to help others make sense of the changes on the horizon.

What you may find in this guide are claims that challenge your comfort level or ask you to think deeply about how you deal with change and unexpected circumstances. What you won’t find are empty promises or shallow feel-goods that have no substance.

    Thank you for reading,

    Angela

    Introduction

Astrology is a far more complicated system than just analyzing your interests based on Sun Sign. The basic concept behind this system is the belief that the movement of planets, stars and celestial bodies can influence the energy of those on Earth. One of the most popular forms of Astrology is the study of the Natal Chart or Birth Chart as a means of gaining insight about your personality and personal destiny during this lifetime.

Yet there are many branches of Astrology. This guide blends a bit of Natal Astrology with more of a focus on coming transits and what we call Mundane Astrology, or the study of how the planets impact worldly events.

If you’ve had an Astrological reading before, then what you’ve gained is the insight of your personality and gifts as well as areas you need to work on to thrive. This type of Astrology can be empowering but is very much focused on the individual and your unique path.

Though the Birth Chart is a template for your path as a person, the planetary bodies continue to move beyond our specific moment of birth. Thus, as the planets, especially the outer planets, continue to move in and out of signs and into contact with other planets, the energies created still have an influence on you in different ways.

This guide is focused on the impact of the outer planets over the course of 2021 and beyond, as several important transits are taking place. A Transit is the term used to describe a planet moving in present time (or in the future) as opposed to describing where the planet was when you were born. When a transiting planet comes into certain aspects (key distances) from other current planets, it triggers different energies and impulses. Likewise, when a transiting planet comes into aspect with key planets and points from your Natal Chart, it triggers different potentials for you as an individual, for couples, communities, societies, even countries.

The reason this guide focuses on the outer planets, is because they move slowly and thus their energy takes hold over society and communities, not just the individual. For example, a Full Moon is an aspect called an opposition between the Sun and Moon, two close and personal planets, so the impact is felt on a more personal level. But the effects are also shorter. Both the Sun and Moon move on their merry way in no time at all. You may feel riveted by a particular Full Moon, but usually you won’t feel the impact of it for weeks or months at a time.

Yet the outer planets are different.

The outer planets make a bigger splash when they make aspects with each other or with your personal planets. But to a greater extent when they aspect each other. Thus, when Saturn enters a new sign, the effects are felt for years. When Saturn makes an important aspect to Pluto, the effects are more widespread, affecting nations or the entire world, not just resulting in one or two people having an off day.

The catalyst for this book was a conversation on social media in which dozens of Astrology buffs were discussing major transits between distant planets in the same way they would discuss a Full Moon. That is to say, acting as if there would be a personal and short-term impact.

After giving my thoughts on the matter, I began to reflect
