About this ebook
Views from the Saddle a Texas cowboys life in poetry VOL. VIII First Edition
This collection, of VOL.VIII concludes this series of eight books of story like poems taken from the life of Ray A. Twist. This first book was originally published in 2012 by Quantum in Corpus Christi, TX, is no longer in print, but available in this collection, as VOL VIII First Edition. The collection of Ray A. Twist has been a pleasure for me to assemble and get produced as a valuable contribution of literature, and I am proud to be a part of it, as the managing editor.
Ray A. Twist
Ray A. Twist left poems on the table for his grandchildren to read before he left each morning to work his cattle, on his lease. The poems in his book reveal life in Texas. The poetry of Ray A. Twist also paints us a picture of his cowboy life in Texas for forty years.

A LONESOME CALL
I was riding in the high country
Along a narrow trail
Chills ran up and down my spine
When I heard a gray wolf wail
I stopped my old horse awhile
And sat there looking back
Across the valley on a little slope
I saw seven wolves in a pack
They looked okay at first
Healthy and well fed
After watching for awhile
I could see they weren’t being led
I rode on down the valley
And there on a high plateau
I came across a cruel fur trader
That I used to know
He led a pack mule behind his horse
With wolf pelts on it’s back
One of them he told me
Was the leader of the pack
There was not to be another winter for her
Her eyes were growing dim
She did not see the hunter
And she fell prey to him
The pack will stay here for awhile
The strongest daughter will sniff into the air
And
