About this ebook
Ian Wilcox
Ian Wilcox is a 50+ London born man of many thoughts Although I have been penning verse for over 40 years, it was just a hobby that passed some time. Following a Heart attack and Stroke that left me, among other things, registered visually Impaired I made poetry a reason to learn to adapt so that I could write again. I have a loving Partner and Daughter who are both from the Philippines and are the reason that I smile everyday Messages for Mj is my second Book project this year following the publication of Letters to Lodieta

MARBLES
54418.pngALLIGATOR AND CROCODILE
Alligator lay on the Bank
With a toothy smile
Chatting with its bigger friend
The quite distinctive Crocodile
Basking in the warm bright sun
Warming up their blood
For water was deep with lots of feed
The season of the flood
Had spent some time and that was fine
Now was time to go
Was feeding time and stock was fine
With the river’s flow
See you later Alligator
The Crocodile did say
"Not for a while Crocodile
For I must go away"
The friends swam away until the day
That they would meet again
Both considered mean but were not as seen
For tried to kill without the pain
But sometimes instinct took control
Prey larger than their bite
Then a struggle ensued as their poor food
Was dragged deep and out of sight
Alligator and Crocodile
Were quiet a strange affair
Let’s be frank for on the Bank
Have you ever seen this pair?
DAMN, DID, STOOD, HID
Cam said damn
Candi did
Sam just stood
Samantha hid
With Dan ‘the Man’
And Mabel ‘maybe’
Carl did snarl
Christine went crazy
Then came darkness after light
Then diminished future bright
Were too young to see the Light
‘Hey! I’m young and I’m all right’
So, so sad when see the sight
Teenage kicks and future blight
Long and cold will be that night
Would it change with just foresight?
Silly dare with no care
Quick how got so out of hand
Never thinking because been drinking
Now one is in far off land
Didn’t mean, so does seem
Foolish words did go astray
Young people brave, no caution gave
When dangerous games they play
Others stood with tilted hood
As on stretcher one did go
Covered full as per the rule
The sight was not for show
Then came darkness after light
Then diminished future bright
Were too young to see the Light
‘Hey! I’m young and I’m all right’
So, so sad when see the sight
Teenage kicks and future blight
Long and cold will be that night
Would it change with just foresight?
The one who taunted, forever haunted
When actions spoke out loud
Way not right to end silly fight
Especially when in front of crowd
Two lives it cost, though just one lost
Of other it still might
Survivor pays each and every day
In that way two took flight
Silly names and no restrain
Alcohol and blood
Big the crash when tempers rash
The cost not understood
Then came darkness after light
Then diminished future bright
Were too young to see the Light
‘Hey! I’m young and I’m all right’
So, so sad when see the sight
Teenage kicks and future blight
Long and cold will be that night
Would it change with just foresight?
EL LUGAR DE LOS SANTOS
The place of Saints was my type of Town
Silent, peaceful and a dust blown street
A place to go to discover
A destination for yourself to meet
The creak of the old sign as it swings above me
Gently blown by sand filled air
Not strong enough to disturb my hat upon me
But strong enough to displace my care
Just find a Fonda to wash my mouth out
Perhaps get me a bite to eat
Then a bed if just for one night
That has soft pillow and clean sheets
Saddle and blanket are my normal
Beside a fire that’s gone by morn
Open spaces are my playground
For to the wilderness was I born
Where a Colt 45 is not a beverage
A shot is not just some small measure
A place of wonder if you respect it
Your death sentence or life treasure
For tonight I’ll kick my boots off
Get a hot tub filled for a soak
For tonight I’ll sleep in silence
No nocturnal hiss or croaks
Three weeks on Horseback makes one weary
As I trek from place to place
Though would not change it for a lifetime
A lifetime spent in a business race
Got my pot and got my coffee
Water bottles and hard tack too
Now and again find an Oasis
The place of Saints to one like you
El lugar de los Santos fits its description
Fits it true and fits it right
For like the Saints it offers blessings
To red rimmed eyes a Heaven sight
Yup one night here will be plenty
Allow me to stand up clean and tall
Then saddle up and ride to bugle
The addictive notes of the Nomads call
Someday, maybe I will return
To El lugar de los Santos and call it Home
A nothing place with all I yearn for
When bones do tell me I’m too old to roam
BOY OF A BILLION DREAMS
They mocked him for his vision
They beat him for his thought
Deprived him for his independence
All, however, were a lesson taught
He absorbed and then did vow
To never be the same
Opposite of what he got
He’d give with his own name
Broke a mould he didn’t know
Broke the chains that bind
Broke the rules set by fools
Broke from restricted kind
To some he seemed quite insular
To some he seemed aloof
Others thought him all bravado
All promise and no proof
But who did crow at final show
The accepters or the daring??
Those who shout into the Wind
Or those conformist caring
Nothing ever was transparent
Nothing quite as seems
He was a Child of a destination
A Boy of a billion Dreams
One by one things fell in place
Step by step did he ride
Was quite happy with achievements
Thought kept in check that thing called Pride
Neither extrovert nor self proclaiming
Let others judge and do the naming
Whatever called he found not shaming
Life’s a game and all are gaming
He laughs at smears and agrees with insults
Thus removing barb before the hit
They may beat him if in possessions
They are defeated in game of wit
Something new he longs labelled
For all known he’s heard them all
If someone became quite inventive
He’d shake their hand while strong and tall
Little Boy into an Emperor
Ruling Empire of just one
Smiles and chuckles at his achievements
So far removed from whence begun
And nothing ever was transparent
Nothing ever as it seems
He is still somewhat an enigma
For he was Boy of a billion Dreams
Who is this Boy I hear you ask
Well here’s a simple clue
Forget the gender, if you’re a Creative
Then my friend it could be you
ANGELS RODE ON HORSEBACK
When Angels rode on Horseback
The ground it shook and Faith did cry
For both armies believing theirs was Righteous
Never did allowance try
Hot heads both sides
Did the fury whip
Though were the minority
They were the pointed tip
Blows exchanged, the passions changed
War cries rose from what was quip
The Faithful like Families took their sides
Sometimes is what families do
Get involved with one sides reasons
Of whole facts they have no clue
Some relatives commit atrocities
So whole religion does get the blame
Psychopath sect are ecstatic
When reaction does suit their game
The bold and brave strap on their armour
Saddle up and then ride out
Create the vacuum that sucks in others
Ride to glory with scream and shout
Been here before in our History
Victories gained but nothing changes
We’ve moved on with weapons and tactics
Though not to point that rearranges
So innocent once more will pay the blood bill
Fantasists will flock to join their banners
That is us in a nutshell
Gone are wisdom and gone good manners
So many aggrieved at outside influence
When upset at things at Home
Cost of living and future prospects
Hear a preacher and choose to roam
Though that preacher has agendas
For live in same world but have solution
Politics is hard, Religion easy
Both though ripe for
