About this ebook

This collection of poems reaches out and explores the mind's insecurities and doubts, fears and questions about the meaning of life, the society we have created, the loneliness that exists as part of the human condition and certainly part of the author's life. It also reflects on love, moments of pure connection, moments of letting go of old love and the searching for fulfilment that is the experience of so many people and part of the shadow of the being human.

Author

Maria Perta

Maria is a first time self published author although she has been writing from an early age. Qualified and working as an accountant she has spent her life quietly filling up journals with her poetry, a secret passion she has shared with only a handful of people. Maria's writing absorbed the emotional turmoil that comes with living life and all the trials and tribulations it contains, and dealing with the constant questioning of life's meaning and purpose. Seeking more fulfilment than her profession enabled, and coming to an age where she began shedding her fears and insecurities she felt it was time to see her works published, a dream she had always harboured. This is the result of that decision. Maria lives in Melbourne with her partner.

    7867.png

    My eyes blink open, unwillingly

    Still dreaming of sleep, lovingly

    Holding onto rest, imploringly

Tasting a few more minutes, furtively.

The sun slinks into my window, prematurely

Night swapping shifts with sunlight, diligently

    Yield to the day, defiantly

For this is the way, undoubtedly.

Freedom for the spirit that runs high,

Like wind breathing through sullied hair,

Poetry settling into the curves of the soul

Freshness, warm rain cleansing the pained heart

Enveloping the empty arms of the lonely lover,

Kissing the sadness from the weeping eyes, tears set free.

    Freedom for the seeking spirit,

Like wine on the parched pallet,

    Completing, Nourishing, Perfection.

    Splashes of gold

    Flecks of pain

    Insipid flushes of bold.

    Heighten my fascist wrath

    Pinprick my hippy dream

    Ballooning anxiety

    Stream inwards in
