About this ebook

When our daughters Mandy and Malan were young, my husband and I would chart their growth by having them stand against a wall entering our Den. We would measure their height, by drawing a line above their heads. And so, each summer we would repeat this measuring, and tracking of their growth progress. It was wonderful watching our Children grow in this way. This Book came from those precious memories. God reminded me through these measuring experiences with my children, of the Measure of Faith he had given me during my own walk with him thus far! Many experiences that would exercise my Faith and draw me closer to my God! Each Faith-Building Trial only made me stronger for the Lord and strengthened me spiritually, for many new battles God knew were ahead! I hope by sharing these wonderful and sometimes painful experiences, I can help someone else grow in the Lord. May God bless you reader, as you walk through some pages from my Life~!

    CHAPTER ONE

    A Child like Faith

My first meeting with Jesus Christ, came at the age of seven. I had attended my first bible school at a church in Detroit, Michigan. My parents did not attend church, and this was a whole new experience for me. Since the church had picked us up in a school bus, I thought it was going to be like school. After doing a craft, eating a Snack, and doing a bible study, all the children from every classroom were taken into an auditorium. I noticed a huge drawn curtain up on the stage. A bible school teacher began to talk to us about a man named Jesus. I had never heard this name before. My dad was an alcoholic for years, and very abusive to my mother. My mother then took her stress out on me, and was abusive to me. For most of my childhood, this is all I saw. As I listened to all the wonderful stories about Jesus, and all the great things he had done, I became very interested in him. Something was drawing my heart to know more! I listened with all my heart as a child does to its mother. Suddenly, the teacher ask us if anyone wanted to meet Jesus! I was thrilled and quickly raised my hand with some of the others who had as well. I couldn’t wait to meet this man called Jesus, and as we were led towards the big curtain on the stage, I just knew Jesus would be behind it! Hearing how the teachers described Jesus that day, made me want to meet him. I really thought I would get to meet Jesus face to face, but when we got behind the curtain, to my disappointment, standing there was just another teacher in front of the room. We were asked to be seated in the chairs provided, and a preacher began to tell us more about the man called Jesus. He told us about salvation Jesus offered, and how Jesus wanted to save us from our sins. This is the first time I had ever heard about salvation or sin. He then asked us who would like to be saved, and to raise our hand if we did. Although I didn’t really understand what I was doing that night or what faith really was, I invited Jesus to come into my heart. I know God was working that day, and I have never forgotten the first time I heard his wonderful name Jesus. One day, when my race down here is finished, I really will get to meet him face to face, and live with him for all eternity! Sometimes, I can hardly wait!

From that day forward, God kept revealing himself to me more and more. And now that I’m grown, I just cannot understand folks that do not believe in bible school. Look at what Jesus said in Luke 18:15-17 (KJV): And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But, Jesus called them unto him, and said, suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. This is why I believe every building set up to worship Jesus Christ, should offer bible school for children. You never know how the home life is for some of these little children, that God lets walk through the doors! Some, like me, may never have heard of Jesus Christ, but was changed forever! Give them Jesus! I can’t help but wonder what would happen, if we the church would live our lives so close to God, and make Jesus Christ real to others, if we talked about him the way we should, and acted like him daily, could we too lead more people to Jesus? Would they want what we have? Would they too want to meet Jesus like I did that day, due to how real the people had made him? I sure want to try church, and I hope this Inspires you to try as well! Matthew 19:14 (KJV), "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

    CHAPTER TWO

    Faith and Gods Word

I was eight years old, when my Dad decided to move us from Detroit, Michigan, to his home town in North Carolina. My older brother and I were sent to live with our aunt for a while, in a very small county called Yancy County. It was a huge change for us. We went from living in a huge city with tall buildings, lots of noise, and houses side by side, to living in a very small, rural, community, that had mountains and creeks, and things I was not use to seeing or hearing. Although it was beautiful and peaceful, it still took me a while to get used to this new environment. Although I could not see it at the time, and it hurt being away from my parents, God had a plan for his daughter.

It was during this time that my Aunt Maude began to take us to her church regularly. I had never attended church other than the bible school I had attended back in Detroit. These people were talking about that same man Jesus, I had heard about in bible school. I didn’t understand at the time that Jesus is everywhere, and there is not one place on the whole earth hidden from him. That summer, Big Creek Church, held their annual Bible School. I knew more what to expect this time. At this church, they offered a Prize to the children who memorized their bible verses all week. God made
