About this ebook
Sandra Nairen
I have always lived in the area I live in now, Liverpool. I go to St Stephen’s Church, where I have been going since 1973. I get my inspiration from reading my Bible and the beauty of nature. I worked for twenty-five years in shipping, and now I have been working eighteen years in the civil service. In my spare time, I love writing poetry, going on holiday (mostly to the Greek islands), and going to the theatre (especially musicals). Like Joseph in the Old Testament, I believe dreams can come true.

BE AGLOW IN THE SPIRIT
Be aglow in the Spirit, be a beacon of light,
In the eyes of the Lord, do what is right.
Be aglow in the Spirit, be a flame,
And to others, proclaim Christ’s name.
For you are a flame that can light a fire,
As to others you encourage and also inspire,
A beacon of light that can’t be put out,
Through life’s troubles, you do not doubt.
As Jesus is the light of the world,
Let His banner be unfurled,
A banner of love, peace, and joy,
For every man and woman, girl and boy.
Be aglow in the Spirit and run life’s race,
Until you see Jesus face-to-face,
When you will have won the incorruptible crown,
When before your Lord you finally bow down.
Let Christ be your umbrella to protect you from the rain,
For He will protect you every day, through the suffering and the pain.
The pain of things that happen, as from day to day you go,
As the dark clouds of problems hover over you, this you know,
That Christ will chase those dark clouds, and the rainbow will appear
To fill our hearts with gladness and fill us with cheer,
For He alone can guide us when life just gets too much,
And He can take away our problems, with one gentle touch.
Take down your umbrella, and in your life, let Jesus shine,
For Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the three in one divine.

RED POPPIES
Red poppies in the fields do grow,
We will remember them.
They will always know
That their bravery has certainly not been in vain.
The memories of their loved ones will always remain.
Whether it be in conflict of present day or past,
The horror of war is one that will last,
Of loved ones lost as their duty’s done,
In the line of battle, be it lost or won,
Be it at sea, in the air, or on the land,
These brave people, at their officer’s command,
Did not think of the horrors ahead.
So now today we honour the dead,
And remember those who will never grow old.
We remember those people who were so bold,
As into battle they did go.
The consequences they did know,
That they may never return to face another day.
But they will be remembered in every way,
With poppy wreathes laid and services said,
To honour the fallen, to honour the dead,
Who without their bravery we would not live the lives we do,
For you will always be remembered, and may God bless you.

BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS
Wish upon a star and believe in your dreams,
It’s not as impossible as it seems.
Look at the night sky, at a twinkling star,
Believe in your dreams, and you’ll go far.
Each star just shines and twinkles for you,
To make your wishes and dreams come true.
It doesn’t matter if your dreams are big or small,
For when they come true, you’ll feel ten feet tall.
You’ll see all you wished for before your eyes.
Believe in yourself, and there’ll be no surprise,
When your dreams are no longer in your imagination.
Believe in your dreams in every situation.
So believe in your dreams and never let go,
Nurture them, believe in them, and see them grow.

GOD IS LIKE A SATNAV
God is like a satnav that safely guides us home,
And when we stray from the narrow path and if we dare to roam,
The little voice inside our head says, ‘You’re going in the wrong direction.’
It’s because Our Father loves us and is showing His affection.
He shines His light along the path, and with every little bleep,
Trust, have faith in God above, always His will to seek.
For His way is the right way, the path that leads to heaven.
God never rests or tires; He looks after us 24/7.
Each path we take, each way we go, is always in God’s will.
Follow the satnav faithfully and never give up until
You have followed the master faithfully and you’re finally there
At the point where God wants you, you are always in His care.
Follow, follow, follow wherever He may lead,
He showers His love and protection on you; He knows your every need.
Follow the voice that guides you, then never go off the track,
For if you follow ‘God’s satnav’,
You will never ever look back.

GOD’S SHELTER
In the shelter of the Almighty, that’s where I want to be,
As I am protected from the noonday sun by the shelter of a tree.
For God protects His children; to Him the plans for us is known,
And each day He works His purpose out from upon His heavenly throne.
We go through times of turmoil, times of trouble too,
When we don’t know where it will end or don’t know what to do.
But trust in God, your Father, each day He has planned out,
And to make you prosper, not to harm you, of that there is no doubt.
The plans He has are for the best, so trust in and rest,
He knows what lies ahead; He also knows what’s best.
Face the future, have faith in God above,
Our God of compassion, our God of love,
Who only has your well-being on His mind,
For He is benevolent, loving, and kind,
Who would never harm you, for He loves you so much.
And when you cry, He will
