About this ebook
Sandra A. Haynes
Sandra A. Haynes was born in the South. Her first poem was penned at age eleven when she was inspired by a lovely sunset. Her interest in writing was later developed in college where she majored in English. She became an English teacher and taught at several different levels, her last being at a junior college where she taught writing for many years. Her books of poetry were written during this time after she learned to use the computer. Her interest in spiritual topics has influenced much of her writing. Many of her poems reflect on life’s values, opportunities, and relationships. Sandra’s poetry has been featured on Better Life Television Network where she was interviewed in a segment on creativity. Reflections joins her previous collection of poetry books which include these titles: Of Butterflies and Men, The Things That Matter, From Where I Stand, Viewpoint, Perspective, and Contemplation.

Time
Another day has come your way,
And how will you use your time?
Will you spend your hours on trivial things,
Or focus on things sublime?
For time is a gift that’s given to all,
No matter your race or station,
Your day can be just another day
Or a happy celebration.
It’s up to you what you do with it,
Use your time to grow and learn,
So spend your day in a meaningful way,
For its hours will not return.
Dedication
This book is dedicated to all prospective readers with the desire that it may enrich the life and be a blessing. Life is a gift in which to show our thankful response to God who made us and to use these gifts to honor Him and bring joy and hope to all within our reach. Happy reading!

From Shadows to Light
Are you walking, Friend, today
In the shadow of the cross,
In gloomy disappointment
Of the precious Savior’s loss?
Are you saddened by the world
With its sordid, tragic things,
Instead of looking to the hope
That our salvation brings?
Like disciples to Emmaus,
Who bemoaned their hopeless plight,
Are you stumbling in the darkness
When you could be in the light?
Just remember, God is with us,
For His death was in the plan
To salvage all that man had lost,
To keep you in His hand.
Then come out from the shadows,
And walk into the light,
Invite the Savior to be near
And keep Him in your sight.
What Killed My Lord
I sometimes wonder if we’ve heard
So much about the cross,
We seldom stop to realize
What our salvation cost.
We take for granted Jesus’ role
Upon the cruel tree,
But do we understand the price
He paid at Calvary?
For as He hung there on the cross,
No one can comprehend,
The mental anguish He endured
Bereft of God and friend.
For though His Father lingered there,
He felt He was alone,
The separation was the cost
He paid to thus atone.
When wracked with pain from head to toe,
And suffering apart,
The hiding of His Father’s face
Is that which
