Melinda McQueen

Hello, I'm Melinda from Texas. I am a published author. I'm in a chair with Cerebral Palsy and writing is my outlet. I have found deep pleasure in writing poetry. Writing helps me express my emotions. Sometimes when I'm sad, I sit in front of my computer and begin typing. I type until I get an idea; from there, I proceed to write a poem. When I complete a poem I feel much better. I guess you could say I feel at peace with myself. But I don't just write when I'm sad. I write when I'm happy. I write when I want someone to know how I feel about them, when I'm unable to tell them face to face. I also write just to remind myself and others not to take life for granted. I also write to glorify God. I believe He instilled in me the gift of writing. I'm currently writing my third novel. If you would like a copy of my novel you can purchase Her Happiest Place by Melinda McQueen on Amazon and B&N.com.

    About Me

I live in East Texas with my husband, Andy. I love attending church and having a church family. I love going to the movies and spending time with Andy. I also spend time writing, of course. I’m currently writing my third novel. I am in a wheelchair with Cerebral Palsy, and I have so many people who take care of me, including my mother-in-law. I am blessed.

    Worshipping Thee in Love

    The Purple Butterfly

    Fluttering in the sunlight,

    It’s utterly free.

    Now filled with beauty;

Far from where it used to be.

    The purple butterfly

    Flew upon the wind.

Soaring high, yet sometimes staying low

    Wherever it went.

To go where its destiny led

    Since transforming into itself.

It remembers its life of old,

How now it has come into its wealth.

    The purple butterfly,

It knows from whence it came.

    Graceful and unique,

    Yet, considers no fame.

    It simply flies,

Sometimes it rests on the highest treetop,

And sometimes it will land on your nose

To give you hope that you knew not.

    The purple butterfly

Soars in strength none could describe,

Because God has designed its flight,

Just as He has designed yours and mine.

    Fluttering in the Son’s Light,

    We’re utterly free.

    Now filled with beauty,

Far from where we used to be.

    Reign in My Heart

    The rain falls

    And I’m still here.

    It saturates my soul,

    Drowning me in fear.

    Falling down around me,

The droplets had become too much to bear.

So I called out to You, my Lord…

Reign in my heart… I need You near.

    Though the rain still pours,

I find my shelter in Your Name.

    When hard rain pounds,

    You still reign.

    Wash over me

    Your gentle grace.

    Have Your way in me…

Reign in my heart… as I seek Your face.

    You, Lord, are my safety

    No matter the storm.

    I trust wholly in You

    To protect me from harm.

    Your love pours down,

    And You’re forever here.

It saturates this soul and lights my dark…

Reign Jesus, reign in my heart.

    The Helper

    The still, the quiet,

    The seeking of the higher.

    To be refined within,

    To be tried in fire.

    Making anew

    The blessed hope.

    Through eyes of faith,

    The Truth we know.

    A gentle whisper

    In times bleak.

    A word unto the soul

When we know not what to speak.

    Shed abroad

    In the hearts of man…

    The Holy Spirit communes

    In hearts’ now fruitful land.

    No longer parched,

    Rather, saturated with grace.

    The Helper comes

    In His own special way.

    The Hope of the World

    A baby lay asleep,

    Dreaming of heaven.

    The home with His Father

Which He left so our lives may have no end.

    Oh what love came down

To usher us to the Father.

    Jesus, Son of God….

The hope of the world… the living water.

    The star brightly shone

The night of our Savior’s birth.

    The Light had come

    To all the earth.

    A gift to all,

Jesus came to experience our pain.

His love covers a multitude of sins.

The hope of the world… souls He saved.

    For the Christ was born

    To redeem all.

He lived to show the way,

He died to finish the call.

He defeated death when He rose again,

And now sits at God’s right hand.

    Calling all who will hear…

The hope of the world forever stands.

    Heaven’s Perfect Gift

    Wrapped up snug

    Was God’s love.

Given to the world, a blessing,

One of whom the angels did sing.

Placing Him in the appointed time,

To make all the world right in His sight.

The only remedy, the only cure…

    Heaven’s perfect gift so pure.

Emptying heaven of its greatest treasure,

    His love is without measure.

Love indeed came down to earth

The day of our Savior’s birth.

He grew in stature and grace,

All the while giving the Father praise.

    For God sent His Son,

Heaven’s perfect gift, the only One.

    Jesus who is the Light,

    Shed forth His might.

    Giving up His life

So we would be eternally alive.

    Christ defeated death

When again, He reclaimed His breath.

And soon, to the Father did He lift.

    Heaven’s perfect gift.

    The Whisperer unto My Soul

As close as my next breath,

    I feel Your Presence indeed.

    Close to my beating heart,

You’re on the inside of me.

    You’ve gracefully come,

Instilling in me the power to commune and know…

    The One who has sent

    The Whisperer unto my soul.

    Granting me access to You,

That through prayer I can reach Your Throne.

Interceding for me when I have no words,

The Holy Spirit mentions to You my every groan.

How lost would I be if ever You took Your Spirit from me…

    I would cease to grow.

I would be an outcast without

    The Whisperer unto my soul.

    Holy Spirit, feed me,

    I can’t live without You.

As an ocean isn’t an ocean without waves,

I’m nothing without the Spirit of Truth.

    You generously water my spirit

With all that is Your own.

    Where would I be without

    The Whisperer unto my soul?

    One Drop

    He gave of Himself,

    Of all His heavenly wealth.

In a flood of His love,

    His will done.

    One drop of His grace

    And circumstances change.

    He does not slack,

    Nor does He hold back.

    Giving from His hand,

    His blessings withstand.

    One drop… one drop…

    His mercies never stop.

    Need a love to cherish?

    Try one drop of His.

For it covers a multitude of sins,

    On this, you can depend.

    Sing unto His Name.

    Jesus is worthy of praise.

    One drop… one drop…

    On hearts does He knock.

    One drop of His blood,

And to our souls healing floods.

One drop of His blood is powerful to the called—

Just think… Christ gave it all!

    The Light

A flicker was all she could see,

In the distance, a tiny light.

It seemed far away, out of reach,

    Finding herself straining for sight.

For she was in complete darkness,

Save only the light which flickered beyond.

    Alone and in distress,

She and fear had an unwanted bond.

    Her idle thoughts raced,

    Not knowing what lay ahead.

    What would she face

If she kept moving where the light led?

In the darkness, the flicker was bright,

So, she had nowhere to look…

But to the glowing light capturing her sight.

    Oh how she was hooked!

For it beckoned her onward to the blessed light,

Fleeing from fear with each step.

    Pushing through with such might

    That she realized her depth.

She bothered not to look back,

For fear was no more her plight.

The further she went, and darkness slacked,

The closer she came to the Light.

    Whispers of Thee

    Let me be still

    In Thy Presence, O Lord.

    Unclutter my mind

So I can hear from Thee more.

    Let nothing else matter

When I come to hear You speak.

    Grant me Thy grace,

So I hear the whispers of Thee.

    Quiet my soul

And put to rest my wayward thoughts.

Leave no room for anything but Thee,

Until my every idle thought is caught.

Let me hear Thy sweet voice

    On the inside of me.

    Casting all else aside,

I don’t want to miss the whispers
