About this ebook
I hope that you enjoy how I write and what I write.
Some of the words and names will be foreign but the meaning should be evident as I write from the heart.
Enjoy and one day I will write about the "butterfly cowboy, so until then draw your own conclusions.

Mel Leslie
About the Author Mel Leslie grew up in Southern Alberta and went to school in Hussar Alberta. He is the father of two children and the adoring grandfather of one grandson. Mel has had poetry running through his mind for years and finally decided to start putting them to paper. Most of these poems are life experiences, of either himself or someone he knows, mostly family and friends and their life experiences. Mel has had his share of life's ups and downs and struggles with depression. He has found writing aides in his healing process. He has called his book of poems My Journey and has realized while writing these experiences that they could pertain to anyone.

Muddled Mind
Poet part, needs creativity, analytical part just why?
Why, are my thoughts muddled so, I don’t have to lie
Understanding what goes on, inside my jumbled brain
Makes me wonder, only me? Does it make me look insane?
Words and thoughts that roam around, when will they pop out?
Will people stare and look at me, What’s he all about?
A serious conversation, everyone stating a thought
I listen intently, then I spout, Should’ve seen the fish I caught!
Now where did that
come from—Why not my inner voice?
Nothing to do with the conversation—I just didn’t have a choice!
The creative part, I really enjoy, what will inspire my next writing?
Pleasant thoughts, love, hate, depression? Maybe an eagle sighting?
Makes me wonder sometimes, how many characters up there?
Pleasant thoughts, love, hate or depression—which one makes me swear
I know, that I am unique, in many ways and forms
But is my muddled, jumbled brain, just me, or is it the norm?
Analytical part will always confuse, I’ll never understand!
Poet part brings peace and joy. Hey I can sing with the band!!
So here I am—pondering—still writing, no smarter than before
Take me for what I am, cuz I just slammed that door!!

Inspiration
The view from the mountaintop, breathtaking at best
Trees and forests, sky and clouds, put emotions to the test
In the sky—majestically—an eagle soars overhead
But on the ground—the cowboy—wishes
