About this ebook

I am not a preacher, not an evangelist, nor am I a deaconess. I do not hold any religious office.

I am just the girl next door who thought it befitting to share her story to show that God can use you as roar as you are to glorify his name.

All that is written in this book is proof that there is sure a silver lining in every dark cloud.
God is alive.

I sent him this reply:
Nothing like what you are saying is happening;
You are just making it up out of your head.
They were all trying to frighten us, thinking,
Their hands will get too weak for the work,
And it will not be completed.
But I prayed,
Now strengthen my hands. (Nehemiah 6:89)

    ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I would like to give a special thanks to my work colleagues whom were there at the beginning, when this book was still scrappy notes in my journal. They encouraged me to consider writing this book.

I thank all my friends and family who went out of their way to make sure the book was published. They believed in my dreams and I will forever be grateful to them for making this a reality.

I thank God, my creator, without His guidance this would never have happened.

I dedicate this project to my late parents. May their souls rest in peace.

    PREFACE

Since I had been on a quest to exchange my dull perspective for excellent perspective, I realized that I can only live excellently by giving time to my Creator, that he might deposit his excellence in me. I challenged myself to go on a forty-day fast. That is one of God’s principles. I wanted to follow his principle just to see what that would do for me, if it will work at all. Of course, I did that fast according to my ability. I had half-day fasts for forty days because I did not want to set myself up for failure.

I kept it real, a book came out of it. Is he not amazing? I can well say a book was started and completed in these forty days. Is he not amazing? He changed my perspective. Instead of crying and feeling sorry for myself. He gave me an idea and, in the process, healed me. Talk about turning lemons to lemonade. Indeed, opportunities do sometimes come as opposition. I get chills thinking of what more he has in store for me. The King revealed his kingship to me. Try him for yourself and remember to keep it real.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Born for a Reason

We woke up to the splashing of the ocean as the waves made their way to the shores of the sea. On their way, they hit the huge rocks lodged at the shores, making a splashing sound. And the seawater splattered everywhere. There was a fresh, crisp, clean breeze; we could almost smell the salt in the water. As we lay, we enjoyed the non-polluted air of Cobb Inn.

Cobb Inn is one of the famous rustic holiday destinations geographically located in the former Transkei region in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It draws its waters from the warm Indian Ocean. We have always loved having a swim in the warm Cobb Inn sea.

My uncle had taken my brother and me for a swim at the sea for the weekend. This would be one of the memorable times we would have of our childhood with him. We went to Cobb Inn for camping, and we slept in sleeping bags on the cool sand. We had an awesome time. Yes, we had random goodies, chips, sweets, and braai meat every now and then.

My uncle made the best braaivleis and braai sausage. As he braaied the meat, he would pour beer over it. It gave off a charred, meaty, delicious aroma with no trace of the heavy beer smell at all. I thought it was forbidden meat for us. At eight years old, I knew that alcohol was a beverage for adults and alcohol-marinated meat would therefore also be for adults. But uncle said we could have some. It tasted like heaven.

All we did was play in the water, play in the sand, and eat the braai meat the entire weekend. Awesome time we had. Looking at the far-stretching ocean, we could see the ends of the world all filled with promise and a good future.

He was such a blessing in our childhood, a gift sent from above. I say so because we had lost our father when I was only two and my brother had just turned six. That for us was a non-factor because our uncle was there to fill in the gap. When fetching our school term reports, as our schoolmates feared their fathers, we feared our uncle. If we got 70 per cent, he would ask us what happened to the other 30 per cent. That would be followed by ‘You must work harder next time’. My mother, the
