About this ebook

Just think about it. When something wonderful happens, we want to share the experience with others. Sometimes we want to shout our joy from the mountaintop, the street corner, the platform, or Facebook. Gail DiMarco is one such person. Discovering that God is real and very much alive is certainly important enough for her to shout to all the nations.

In the pages of this book, Gail shares her story of abuse and redemption. She outlines how God’s grace brought her from a life of sorrow, shame, and self-condemnation into a new life of love, forgiveness, and purpose. God taught her a new and better way to live, including the importance of unconditional love, the power of forgiveness, and how to live a surrendered life. Amazed by God’s grace and love in her own life, Gail hopes that each person who reads her story will accept God’s incredible love and receive eternal life.

Gail DiMarco

Gail DiMarco has been a disciple of Jesus Christ for thirty-nine years, a wife for forty-one, and a mother for forty-six. She is also a proud grandmother. Over the years, she has worn many hats in business and in the church. Gail was a business owner at the age of twenty and has maintained the entrepreneurial spirit to this day. In the church, she has loved the babes in the nursery, organized women’s conferences, and is now a speaker impassioned with sharing the good news of Christ and His redeeming power. Her zeal is contagious and her message heartfelt. “When I turned twenty-seven,” Gail says, “my life took on a new direction. I knelt at the feet of Jesus. He has been transforming my life ever since. I left behind a life of sorrow, pain, self-centeredness, and regret.” Although many people have experienced the healing power of Christ, few share their personal transformation (a miracle as Gail calls it). She shares her personal story in hopes that others will find, accept, follow, and love the Savior. ¬There is no wound too deep for Him to heal. Please give Him a try. He is waiting to make you “as white as snow.” Gail would love to hear your story and pray with you. You can contact her by emailing gaildimarco@sbcglobal.net.

I would like to thank my husband Dennis and our two children, Daniel and Dana, for their unconditional love for me. Thank you for understanding why I needed to share my story. Thank you to Andrea Simmons Merrell, my editor. She understands my heart and did not try to change my voice. Andrea is a gifted editor both in knowledge and communication.

    Introduction

D iscovering that God is real and very much alive is certainly important enough to want to shout to all the nations. The desire of my heart is that you, too, will make this life-changing, life-giving discovery.

I have always believed that God existed, but now I can stake my life on the reality of His daily presence. Jesus (God) changed my life from the inside out. He believed in me from the beginning and knew what I could become. With gentleness and patience, He has taught me a new and better way to live. I have learned the importance of unconditional love, the power of forgiveness, and how to live a surrendered life. I am eternally grateful for the lessons He has taught me. Some have been easier to grasp, accept, and apply to my life than others. What amazes me is that He is willing to hang in there with me until I get it. He has been my life coach, cheering me on every step of the journey.

You can have Him as your own mentor, Savior, and friend. He is waiting to be invited into your life. I have shared my own story of abuse and redemption within these pages in hopes that you will accept His unconditional love and receive eternal life.

    With love, joy, and prayers,

    Gail

    Chapter 1

    Growing Up

G ail, pull the shades down.

    Mom, let the light in.

Everyone driving by will peer into our windows. Close them.

Our house sat very close to the road, and Mom insisted the shades be down most of the time. As soon as I walked through the door, I flung up the shades, pushed back the curtains, and headed straight for the stereo. Classical music played while I danced around the room. The music put me into my own little world. Ballet was my passion, and becoming a ballerina was my dream. But Mom said I was far too clumsy for that.

Much of the time my world was very melancholy. Instead of coming home to the smell of chocolate chip cookies fashioned by my own mother’s hand, I opened the door and entered a dark, empty—often cold—house.

My parents were good people, but Daddy died in a hunting accident when I was four years old. My mom became a very young widow. She never really got over his death. When I was older, Mom told me she was angry at God for taking the father of her two children and the
