About this ebook
For author Lily Farmer, growing up on a farm in Minnesota was one of the most treasured times of her life. In How My Life Changed Moving from Farm Life to City Life, she narrates her story.
Meant as a legacy for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, this memoir shares a wide range of anecdotes, thoughts, and lessons learned—ranging from her childhood, family, divorce, and her love of God and her Christian faith. Farmer tells how she had the most exciting and rewarding life a child could dream of as she experienced a host of adventures on the farm. She discusses how she made the difficult transition to city life when she was barely eighteen years old.
As she relays the importance of God in her life, Farmer discusses how she’s been poor, and she’s been rich. She now lives a comfortable life with a roof over her head and food on the table.

I am
dedicating my life journey to anyone who has an open heart and mind. If you want to learn the same valuable life lessons that I have learned along the way, I hope and pray that this memoir will give you some insight into how to handle tough times in your life. I believe that my journey has some lessons in it for both the young and the elderly.
I dedicate this book to my parents. They helped me to grow into the adult I have become. I also dedicate it to my children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren, so they can understand the who, why, what, when, and where of my life.
This book represents my life journey. It is written from my heart to my parents, who are waiting for me up in heaven, and to the family that God created for me down here on earth. I leave this to them, hoping they will understand that life is meant to be lived to the fullest each day. That is exactly what I tried to do.
Having fun along the way, dance along the way, sing along the way, and enjoy each day that God gave you here on earth. I love how God handles and takes care of everything in the end. He has been there so many times for me, and He has been my rock in good times and in bad times.

Preface
L et me try to explain the many reasons I am writing about my life journey. I am not rich or famous. I am not a star. I am a normal (I sometimes wonder what is normal anymore) Caucasian woman who just turned seventy years old. Every now and then, I ask myself, where has my life gone? I am writing this life memoir, from my perspective, as a legacy for my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, to give them a glimpse into my growing-up years on the farm and my adult life.
I love writing, and I am not sure anyone in my family knows that about me. I hope that sharing some of the fun times and some of the hard times I have had in my life will help explain things from my point of view. I gifted my mom and dad with a short writing before they passed away. They read it and were so pleased with it. It was my legacy to them and what great parents they had been to me.
I want those left behind to know my perspective and remember me as a happy and fulfilled woman. I pray that my words will give them a better understanding of how happy my childhood and adulthood were and how life is meant to be lived to the fullest. Each day is a gift. Believe that, and you will live your life to the fullest.
