Julia E. Morrison is a high school English teacher from Portland, Oregon. The author wrote her first book in order to fill a need for LGBTQ characters in children's literature. She lives in Washington state with her daughter and partner. Laura Knauer has a background in both art and education, and has always wanted to illustrate a children's book. She grew up in Manitou Springs, Colorado but has been living in the Portland, Oregon area for 15 years.
