    The Third Eye

    When Hands Give Speeches

When hands prepare to give a speech

    On sides of pulpits rest,

Then as the entire speech begins

They go up and down with jest.

    Announcing their departure

With a waving in the air,

A peace sign and a thumbs up

    What other gestures dare compare?

    Zoom Lens of Spirituality

If you focus your lens on God

He will take a picture of you.

It will merit all the exceptional

And the unexceptional that you do.

The final picture will be far from fake,

Very fictional and never a fraud

And hopefully while you’re saying Cheese!,

You’ll be smiling next to God.

    I’ve Dreamed of Heaven

I’ve dreamed of heaven and I’ve feared hell

But where do they part ways?

It’s kind of shady and always leaves me

    Caught up in a haze.

I’ve been tattered, I’ve been torn

    And felt starvation’s lean.

I’ve been patient when heaven delays

I prefer to live calmly in between.

    Against the Odds of Miracles

    When coincidences feel like miracles

We must be blind in one eye.

    For to see a miracle is heart-wrenching;

    Even patient angels cry.

Still we’re beckoned by the on-going rate

In which they seldom come along.

    Typically, we study the miraculous

And test to see how strong.

Time can dictate how long it takes

    For either one to glow

    Coincidence or miracle?

Always admit us free to heaven’s show.

More than a sign, they come from far away

    And leave us in disbelief.

We are suddenly changed like coins

Our faces minted by their relief.

    Bonnets

    A bonnet is a substitute

    For a hat it seems.

A floppy flap of lace and gingham

Crescents a face like Easter dreams.

Remember by a degree of love

That lands on its flowery edge

And for a moment while one observes

A sacred light appears ’round the filigree ledge.

    Holy Water

Holy water lies in wait for a dabbing church-goer

To make the sign of the cross.

Then splashes up with startled clarity

And through the hoops of fate is lost.

The sum of all the visits there

Builds one’s character so I’m told.

Wouldn’t one’s integrity build up anyway

Without a clergy there to scold?

    Release Yourself

    Release yourself

    And all your thoughts reprise.

    As you are magnetized into

    The Universe’s bewitching eyes.

Like a sponge there to sop you up

You disperse your fragments into it’s Holy cup.

Release yourself if you wish to go

And meditation’s ways simply lift you up.

You’ll travel in sync past sun,

    Moon, and a certain star

    Who keeps a constant eye

    On exactly where you are.

    You can lie awake

    Get complete and utter rest

    And when you return

You will be clearly your best.

    The Sound of Space

The sound of space is very quiet

No off-key notes or captive crowd.

No time machines either or annoying buzz,

Only the silence there is loud!

    My God Was For Sale

If God was for sale, would you buy him?

And where you’d keep him, do you know?

    No garage or parking lot

Or church could ever store His giant ego.

    For He’d everywhere at once

    Running here and there amuck

Till you’d return Him fast and furiously

And tell the sales clerk, Here, good luck!

    Out-Do Yourself

Within the spark that makes us try

    And makes the passions blink,

    All at once you’re startled

By what you feel and think.

You once admired a reflection in the mirror

But now you’ve looked beyond an elf.

    Now elation is verifiable and

    It is called out-doing yourself.

    The Mystery of An Evening

    When you’re all dressed up

It’s funny how the moon always looks so sharp.

Like the night was made for you entirely

And all your endeavors pluck its harp.

The evening out is successful and sweet

    With worthwhile memories to share.

The moon is tired now and gets undressed

    It’s tuxedo falls through air.
