Kimberly Jenkins

As a medical assistant for a family medicine physician, Kimberly has spent years triaging, rooming, and gathering history of present illness information from her patients. During medicare wellness visits it is required to have the inevitable “being prepared for death” conversation and to discuss advance medical directives and HIPPA forms. It is astonishing how few people really document their desires or financial information to give anyone a clue how to settle affairs without dispute. But it was not until her own aunt became terminally ill and asked her if she would settle her affairs that Kimberly learned what is really involved with settling an estate and documented her twenty-four-month experience to share with others. Kimberly is a retired telecom company president who went on to a second career of medically assisting a family practice physician. She and her daughter also own a successful real estate investing company. Kimberly lives in Chesterfield, Virginia, with her two English bulldogs, Rupert and Lulu.

Why A Biblical Study on Money?

A study on the subject of finances is needed because money is an important topic to God. How do we know something is important to God? One way is to see if He talks about it in His Word. If it is there, in His Word, it is important. How do we know something is extraordinarily important to God? If He covers it more than once, repeating Himself as to make His will plain and clear, we can conclude it is a topic of great importance.

Money is a topic of great importance to God. He actually has quite a lot to say about money. There are about 500 verses on prayer and about 500 verses on faith, yet there are more than 700 verses dealing directly with money, how to handle money and the material possessions of life. Two-thirds of the parables taught by Jesus deal with money. The Bible has more to say about money than heaven and hell combined, even more than salvation. As a matter of fact, the Bible has more to say about money than any other single subject, except love. If God places this kind of emphasis on anything we would be wise to take heed, and at the same time remember that

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

God’s Word is useful. His Word has purpose. He has given us His Word for a reason. He gives us His word to teach us, and to instruct us in our daily lives so that we may experience what is righteous in His sight.

Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

    Proverbs 3:9-10 (KJV)

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

    Malachi 3:10 (NIV)

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. Dueteronomy 29:9( KJV)

Wherever you are today, and whatever state you may be in, it is the will, want and desire of God that you live a life of prosperity. I know that most Christians have heard many teachings from a variety of people preaching and teaching concerning the matter of prosperity. But do we really have clarity as to what it means to prosper? For the purpose of this lesson, prosperity will be defined according to the Webster’s dictionary as the ability to:

    •   Succeed in an enterprise or an activity

    •   Enjoy vigorous and healthy growth

    •   Flourish and thrive; and

    •   Enjoy economic well being

Financial prosperity flowing freely in your life is the will of God concerning you. Many Christians are not walking in the kind of prosperity that God wants them to enjoy, even though it is His will that they experience it. The Bible clearly states that when we lack the Word of God, the end result will be destruction (Hosea 4:6). People are experiencing lack, and insufficiency in their finances because they do not have the knowledge of God’s Word. Others are experiencing lack and insufficiency in their finances because they are not diligently applying the knowledge they do have. (Hosea 4:6).

So, let’s proceed and find what God’s Word has to say about prospering financially so we can stop this frustration of lack and depravation in our money.

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Psalms 35:27 (KJV)

This is a verse worth committing to memory. Every time you
