    CONCLUSION

    INTRODUCTION

If you listed Thailand to a westerner 30 years ago, they will almost confuse it with the Chinese Republic on Taiwan.

Or, if they knew the name at all, it was probably mainly due to Anna and the King of Siam, Hollywood's slightly libelous version of Thai history. Thailand's delectable cuisine has made the nation famous all over the world.

Thai restaurants can be found in almost any neighborhood, and people who have never visited Southeast Asia or even left the nation frequent them.

So, what is it about Thai cuisine that makes it so unique?

It's most likely the combination of the four basic flavors – sweet, sour, salty, and spicy – in each dish.

Thai cuisine has openly borrowed from the culinary arts of China, India, and Malaya over the years, combining these influences to produce something completely new.

The bulk of Thai dishes are not spicy, even though Thai cuisine is renowned for being spicy. The degree of spiciness varies by region, with central Thai cuisine, which is the most common, being the least spicy.

A light one-dish meal, such as khao paht goong (fried rice with shrimp) or kweitiou paht Thai, may be preferred for lunch (rice noodles stir fried with an egg, tofu and dried shrimp, and garnished with ground peanuts).

When friends meet in Thailand for a proper meal, however, there will always be a wide variety of options.

The more customers there are, the more varied the cuisine becomes. A Thai lunch, unlike a western dinner, would not be offered in courses.

Serve a light appetizer, such as baw bia tawt (fried Chinese spring rolls). On the other side, the main courses are likely to appear at about the same moment.

Diners support themselves by scooping up as much as they like with a big serving spoon.

There will always be a soup, such as Tom Yam Goong, a mild curry made with coconut milk (rather than ghee, India), and one or more chicken or fish dishes.

A spicy salad will be used if there are enough people to explain it. In terms of flavor and appearance, every attempt is taken to keep the meal healthy. (The Thais are fashion connoisseurs to the extreme.)

Ending the meal with a huge plate of fried rice is a common activity at big gatherings to guarantee that no one goes hungry.

Women and children will most likely order soft drinks or fruit juices, while men will most likely order the ice cold and potent Thai beer.

Desserts may follow, but they are not as common in Thailand as they are in the West.

The majority of Thai sweets are made with a mixture of rice and coconut, but the range is incredible.

Unfortunately, Thai sweets all taste similar, so a platter of fresh fruit is a better option. Thailand's semi-tropical climate ensures that some kind of fruit is always in season.

Thai pineapples are known for being among the best globally, and oranges are available all year.

Most of the year, papayas, oranges, and pomelos (a sweet grapefruit) will be available, more exotic and seasonal fruits like rambutan, mangosteen, and durian.

Tom Yum is the most well-known of all Thai soups, and its potent blend of herbs and spices provides several health benefits.

This Thai favorite is said to have immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties due to ingredients like lemongrass, garlic, lime leaves, and coriander.

It's a great go-to option for fighting off a cold or stomach problems.

This soup version contains coconut milk (officially known as Tom Khaa), which adds richness and flavor while keeping the soup balanced.

If desired, serve the soup with steamed white rice, as this is how the dish is usually served in Thailand.

    Ingredients

    1 lemongrass stalk

    3–4 cup chicken stock

3 minced garlic cloves (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon crushed dried chile3 leaves of makrut lime

1/2 to 3/4 of cup shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced

1/2 to 1/4 peeled medium or big fresh shrimp

1 sliced green or red bell pepper

    Optional: 1 handful cherry tomatoes

1/2 can coconut of milk (13.5 oz.) or to taste

    2 teaspoons of fish sauce

Garnish with a sprig of fresh cilantro, finely chopped.

    How to make It

    1)  Gather the required ingredients.

    2)  Prepare the lemongrass by finely chopping the lower third of the stalk while leaving the top intact.

    3)  Pour the chicken stock into a large cooking pot
