Rise Slay Eat - Robert L. Wagner
Introduction
Although it appeared that I was effortlessly confident as a young man, it wasn’t an easy road. I had my fair share of self-image mishaps and struggles. There were and are things I didn’t like about myself, but those things never hindered me from moving forward.
Growing up, I would hear the words nobody can do what you do like you do it
echoing from my parents’ mouths. I believe there was a level of confidence and purposeful living instilled in me from an early age. Now granted, this is a combination of nature and nurture. However, I walk into whatever room knowing who I am and whose I am because I live authentically and I’m becoming the best version of myself daily.
Rise Slay Eat will take you on a practical journey to becoming more authentic. To live authentically is to burn in such a way that attracts others. However, it is a process that results in newfound self-awareness and courage to create a life that genuinely makes you proud.
This book is a journey that begins with developing the mindset of a champion. Only after setting the right attitude can we move to know ourselves a little better by being self-aware. The path continues by establishing our temperature gauge through core values and being good to yourself through self-love. As we know, we are all unique individuals, and the next step is to embrace that individuality. Even though we are unique individuals, we are not called to live on an island without others, so we will look at friendships. Creating a clear map for your life is found in the next chapter, and then we set ourselves on fire. When we are on fire, let’s continue with a healthier journey and realize that life is not just about us but how we use what we have to serve others. Finally we can take Center S.T.A.G.E. of our lives and live adventurously.
Working in the field of social services for over a decade and as a strategic leader, I have seen that change is generally deficient in life because of three failures:
Failure to see.
Failure to set things in motion.
Failure to sustain that which we have put in motion.
Although confident, the things I didn’t like about myself never stopped my journey. I mustered up enough courage to work on them while moving forward, and I am still working on them. I desire that as you read this book, you can also muster up enough courage to work on yourself and become the best version of yourself possible.
