    About The Author

    Introduction

    The phrase ‘Great Faith’ is only recorded three times in the New Testament scriptures. In each occasions the phrase was used by Jesus. In two these occasions are repeated, however, there are similarities in each of these occasions . In this study we are going to examine the similarities. Additionally, even though the phrase ‘Great Faith’ is not used in the Old Testament there are several examples which exemplify ‘Great Faith,’ we will take a step deeper into those who had what I call ‘extraordinary faith".

    Living in faith is the very foundation of the believer’s walk in Christ. Jude said it this way;

    But ye beloved building up yourselves on your most holy faith praying in the Holy Spirit.

    The phrase But ye beloved comes with the idea of separation between the saints and those who proclaim a false doctrine.

    The phrase Building up yourselves, comes with the idea of seeking and building toward ones character within the ‘Divine Nature’ of Jesus Christ (See 2 Peter 1-8). It also refers to the fact that Jesus Christ is the True and only Foundation for the believer to build upon (Matt. 7:24-27). As members of the Body of Christ (the Church) being compared to a building must be built with Jesus Christ as the Chief Cornerstone (Eph.2:20-22. The believer (Saint) is to look to Him, who is the "Author and Finisher of our Faith" Heb. 12:2. It also points to the growth and maturation of the Saints while seeking knowledge and adding to one’s faith (2 Peter 1:1-8) the results being walking in the Divine Nature which Jesus Christ has provided.

    But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2 Pet. 3:18

    The phrase, on your most holy faith notice, this is not speaking of a general but it is a Most Holy Faith which puts emphasis on where our faith must be and what the object of our faith is, and that it is upon The Cross and the Finished Work of Jesus Christ. Having the object of faith in any other person, place, or thing will be misdirected, and victory will be impossible to walk in.

    The phrase, "Praying in the Holy Spirit," Prayer is one of the most vital parts of being a Christian. The believer to come to an understanding of how to pray and that is, praying in the Holy Spirit is not only a prayer that removes one from their selfish desires, but it is praying and allowing the Holy Spirit the latitude to operate in one’s life properly. It also gives the Holy Spirit the permission to motivate and empower the believer, which He alone can do. The last reason to pray in this manner is due to you and I not knowing how or what to pray for. Praying in the Holy Spirit will keep your walk of faith in the correct position.

    But if we hope for that we see not then do we with patience wait for it?

    Likewise the Spirit (The Holy Spirit) also helps our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit (The Holy Spirit) itself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered

    And He Who searches the hearts (God the Father) knows what is the Mind of the Spirit because He (The Holy Spirit) makes intercession for the Saints according to the Will of God. Romans 8:25-27

    Since man often does not know how to pray or what to pray for, it is wise to pray with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Note some very interesting points that the apostle Paul, with the direction of the Holy Spirit, made in this passage. Just to touch on a few:

    The believer often does not know what they should pray for. Without the direction of the Holy Spirit in our prayer life, is to pray without results.

    It is the Holy Spirit Who makes intercession. It is He who carries our prayer and/or intercedes on our behalf.

    It is God, and He only, who knows the heart of the believer; And what is the Mind of the Holy Spirit. A prayer life led by the Holy Spirit will place the believer in what He (The Holy Spirit) wants, to accomplish God’s will!

    It is the goal of the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, and direct the believer into a life that is according to the will of God. The Holy Spirit desires to take every believer beyond their selfish desires and wants.

    When we come to the place where the Holy Spirit is allowed to operate in our lives, we will (or have the opportunity to) walk in Great Faith!

    Within the following pages we are going to examine what makes ‘Great Faith!’ While those who exhibited ‘Great Faith’ are numerous in the scriptures we are going to mention just a few. Enjoy your journey into ‘Great Faith!’
