About this ebook

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak…" (2 Corinthians 4:13)

..if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you". (Mathew 17:20)

These scriptures reveal that faith is  a Spiritual force. with supernatural capacity and ability to eliminate any obstacle of mountainous dimension.

Faith also places man in a realm, whereby, he becomes a master to circumstances and situations of impossible nature.

Importantly, faith is sensitive to the relationship between GOD and man.

As recorded in Hebrews 11:6, "…but without faith it is impossible to please God".

Since GOD is the source of life, it follows that a lifestyle void of faith (in what God had accomplished for mankind through His Son, Jesus Christ), is tantamount to conflicts and endless struggles.

Pastor Machi Mike Okenwa, in this anointed, revelation-pack, has made it easy for one to master the knowledge and application of faith.

The writing of this book also carries the assurance that the reader will no longer be a needless casualty of the aggressive and unfavorable circumstances of life, if work is added to theory.

Roots and Pillars of Faith - Machi Mike Okenwa

    Part I

    THE CONCEPT OF FAITH

    Chapter 1

The Description And Definition of Faith

"W e having the same spirit of faith , according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken ; we also believe, and therefore speak . " (II Corinthians 4:13 KJV)

"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief (lack of faith): for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." (Matthew 17:20 KJV)

So many lessons can be extracted from the passages of scriptures above and these are:

Faith is not an ordinary phenomenon, but a supernatural force with the capacity to do the miraculous. So, if you desire signs and wonders, faith is at your disposal to satisfy your thirst because faith is a spirit.

Faith is voice activated. I once heard a preacher say, You cannot face your Goliath (giant or challenges) with your mouth closed. A functional productive faith places a demand on your mouth and voice. Speak to the mountain (Mark 11:23). No voice, no productive faith!

Faith possesses the characteristics of a seed, and we all know that the nature of a seed is beyond human comprehension. No one can accurately predict whether a seed will germinate or not and how long it will take to germinate and how it does germinate. Even science does not have authentic and accurate explanation of the transformation that occurs in a seed planted. Imagine the fact that a seed has to die and experience resurrection from death before it springs out of the ground. Sometimes you notice a tiny plant bursting through a concrete slab with a flourishing life. This is difficult to either explain or comprehend. In a nutshell, like a seed, faith is miraculous by nature.

"Ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove." In other words, faith has unlimited capacity of dominance. It has authoritative and ruler-ship ability.

"And nothing shall be impossible unto you." Faith possesses the ability or capacity to overcome impossibility and render it powerless. It breaks the monstrous power of impossibility. "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." (Mark 9:23).

"Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days."

"Women received their dead raised to life again......." (Hebrews 11:11, 30, 35a KJV)

Without exaggeration, the potency of faith is inexhaustible; (and bearing this in mind, we shall deal with more of them in other books in our faith collection series.)

So, if you desire signs and wonders, faith is at your disposal to satisfy your thirst because faith is a spirit.

    Definition of Faith:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1 KJV).

Many are frustrated in their practice of faith because they fail to recognize that faith is a present moment activity unlike hope which is futuristic in nature. For instance, there is no faith in saying that, God is going to heal me. That is a no, no!

God is going to heal me is in the future - that basically is hope. Faith is a present issue phenomenon (Now Faith is).

According to the Bible, faith is a substance. What does that mean?

This statement is saying that faith is not the reality of your expectation, but it gives substance to it. For example, if you’re expecting healing in your body, faith is not the healing; but faith is a major substance (among others like action and speaking) that will enable the realization of your healing. This explains what the Bible meant when it says: ".....so faith without works is dead also" (James 2:26). Faith as a substance, when in combination with other substances; gives birth to our expectation.

Faith is not an ordinary phenomenon, but a supernatural force with the capacity to do the miraculous.

In the natural, any attempt to produce cake will require substances like flour, sugar, egg, water, heat, etc. This procedure is applicable to faith. Faith (a substance according to scriptures), requires a combination of other substances like the word of God, heart, belief, speaking and patience; among many others.

If the foundation and object of your faith is God (the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ), then the substance of your faith is the word of God. The word of God (the Holy Scripture) definitely will give substance to the manifestation of your expectation.

Additionally, according to Hebrews 11:1, faith is evidence (proof). For instance; the title deed of my house or the title documents of my car are legally acceptable documentation of my ownership. These documents are so powerfully authentic that they can stand as acceptable collateral financial documents. Indeed, they are unquestionable evidence of ownership in any civilized economy.

It’s important that we continue to emphasize the fact that faith is not your reality (expectation); but the evidence (proof) of your expectation (reality). Also, the challenge or your experience is not your reality. Again, if the object of your faith is God, then the evidence (proof) of your healing (expectation) is the corresponding healing Word of God. This is your reality (the corresponding promises of God). Thinking otherwise is the very mistake that places so many in the failure-realm of faith. For instance:

"When the even was come, they brought unto him (Christ) many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick;" (Matthew 8:16 KJV)

Jesus used the word of God to accomplish healing and deliverance.

"He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." (Psalm 107:20 KJV)

So God also uses His word of faith to heal and to deliver. As a child of God (born of God - John 1:13), whose object of faith is God, the evidence (proof) of your healing and deliverance from evil spirits or addictions, etc. is the infallible word of God (also called the word of faith - Romans 10:8).

When some Christians declare that they believe God is going to heal them, ask them to show you their substance and evidence. You will be surprised to notice that they don’t have any. The implication is that they are practicing mental-sense knowledge (human) faith as against revelatory knowledge faith of God, which is based on the word of God - faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Mental or sense knowledge faith is a product of the senses and it is unreliable. This kind of faith is called human
