This book is dedicated to every Black woman that has ever been told she is not enough. To every single Black woman that has to shrink herself to fit into spaces that she is constantly reminded weren't built to hold her.
To every Black girl that has been made to feel less than or has to shout to be heard and is then quickly hushed by those that despise her presence.
To every Black boy that has ever been called a thug or made to think that the only way he can make it in this world is to sell his soul.
To every Black man that has ever had to hold in his rage, his hurt, his pain or even his joy just to fit into the chalk outline society has drawn around him.
I see you, I hear you, I am you. I write for you and to you and I love you.
To those who have loved me and inspired me along the way: My parents, my husband, my family and my strong circle of friends. Also, to my sun & my moon, Bam & Bella.
