About this ebook
The #1 reason why coaches, business owners and practitioners tell me that they don't like online marketing is because they don't want to be overly 'salesy'. Then they tell me they feel overwhelmed. They don't know which platform to be on, what to post, when to post, how often to post...
So instead they take a 'spaghetti at the wall' appro

About Miranda Ivey
Introduction
It all started in 2013 with macrame. If I am being totally honest, it started with an ankle injury. I was laid up on the couch and my best friend came over. She took one look and said to me, ‘You’re not going to last 6 weeks doing nothing; what are you going to do?’ I blurted out, ‘I want to make a macrame pot hanging. I think we could turn it into a Do-It-Yourself kit and sell them’
Now I’d never made a macrame hanging in my life. I knew nothing about macrame. However, I’d come across this new wave of online craft businesses starting up. Doing some research (scrolling on Instagram) I’d found a group of women who had devoted fans and large social media followings. The crazy thing was, they were making a living selling objects like handmade ceramic salt and pepper shakers.
It made me think: While they’re making craft, the rest of us are keenly watching and living our craft life vicariously from the outside. I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one who would like some easy to do craft projects in my life.
Turns out I was right.
A few weeks later my first online business, Macramake, was born. I had no idea where this macrame journey was going to take me. I simply started by following an idea that excited me. I had worked as a marketer and publicist for a number of years so I knew how to sell. However much the same as everyone who pivots from having a day job to running their own business, I’d never had to promote ‘me’ before.
In 12 months, the same friend and I went from our first dismal market stalls in Byron Bay to making $6,000 in one weekend at a specialist craft market. We had an online store and also sold through Etsy. We used conversations with customers in real life
to then create online marketing content. We leveraged our social media to make more sales. We grew our social media presence to thousands of followers.
After just over a year working together, with my first baby on the way, I sold my half of Macramake to my friend and business partner. The business was then sold to someone else and someone else again. Seven years later, the business still exists and has crossed three states!
Since then I’ve been on a wild online ride from learning the ins and outs of social media marketing to running my own social media and Facebook ads agency. For the past three years I’ve almost exclusively managed paid Facebook and Instagram ads; helping business owners find new audiences for their online courses and products. I’ve been behind the scenes for well-known entrepreneurs, spending tens of thousands of dollars to make even more in return.
During this time I’ve come to realise that I’m more passionate than ever about helping small business owners put their best foot forward online. Many of them who I speak with are frustrated and burnt
