Feel It to Heal It - Caroline Purvey
Introduction
We live in a world where three issues that impact health are spiralling out of control; Mental Health, Obesity and Addictions. It may surprise you, but all these issues arise predominantly from stress. Stress is the biggest problem for us all and yet the least acknowledged. Stress will impact every system in your body if left unmanaged. They say stress is a silent killer, but is it? Or is it that through ignorance and denial you, like millions of others, are slowly killing yourself?
This growing problem is impacting families, communities, and workplaces – in other words, the whole of society. It is a worldwide problem. Ask yourself, where is there a truly stress-free zone? We are all actors on a stage wearing a painted smile, kidding everyone that we are ‘OK’!
I personally don’t see mental health as being clearly distinct from emotional, spiritual or physical health. We are energy systems that manifest dis-ease in a variety of ways, often simultaneously.
We are told the NHS cannot cope and we all need to look for some self-care. The main solutions offered are talking, prescription drugs, or self-medication. These include a broad range of substances or behaviours that arise out of a desire to avoid pain, improve emotional states, and provide a feeling of bonding that is otherwise lacking. Unless you have deep pockets for self-soothing, often indulgent treatments, then your choices remain limited indeed.
The good news is that there is a solution to your well-being crisis – you can heal yourself; you have just forgotten how! Discover in this book the best kept secret and why you have lost the ability to release your stress instead of holding on to it – thereby exacerbating the root cause of the issues that are catastrophically undermining your health just as they are for the rest of our society.
In 2011, something called me. Extraordinary circumstances led me to South Africa where I joined 99 others from around the world to learn a technique I had never heard of: Trauma Prevention Exercise, to release the impact of trauma on the body. Be careful what you wish for – I vowed on my return to make it happen in the UK. My vision and mission are what has driven me ever since.
As CEO of TRE UK® experience led me to evolve the practice I learned to create the Total Release Experience®, now an empowering 5-Step programme, that directly addresses and heals symptoms from held stress and trauma. It has not only transformed my life but that of thousands of others we have worked with. Our programme is more than just a practice. It is a life tool and a tool for life. It is a practice for life, it is a life saver!
I have been privileged to witness the most amazing and powerful examples of the human body’s innate ability to heal itself. Many people I have worked with have shared their stories with me, and I can no longer sit on what I have learnt. I want to tell you that you too have a choice. Transform your life and move from a painful past to a future of freedom just like others have, or take your chance!
This book will enable you to understand what our programme is about through the stories of others’ experiences to discover how when you ‘Feel It to Heal It’ you Heal from your Past and Build Resilience. Discover who you really are when you set yourself free, as your Diamond comes out to Shine.
There will be opportunities throughout with Caroline’s Points to Ponder to reflect on your own experiences, to put into perspective your own current state of well-being.
Writing a book was always a dream of mine – but I could never have imagined it would be about something that could potentially change the face of health and well-being on a massive scale. That is what I intend to do. Time now to share with you my knowledge and rich healing stories. But before you join me, I would suggest that you have a notebook and pen to hand so that you can jot down comments as you work through some of the ideas in the
