    ALIVE - Anne E Reardon

    CHAPTER 1

    LIFE

Have you ever thought about who or what taps you on the shoulder while you are driving along enjoying the ride? What is that tap on your shoulder that causes you to suddenly look left or right just in time to avoid some type of problem? Who is that?

Do you ever just get a feeling either of anticipation, of something exciting or of something being wrong? Have you ever put something away and when you go to get it, it is not there. Then you find it somewhere else and you honestly cannot remember putting it there. These are all part of most peoples everyday lives that we take for granted.

I am sure you have seen the cartoon of someone trying to make a decision and there is an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other? That picture is fun. But it is also as close to the truth as we will ever get. We often make the wrong decisions for the wrong reasons.

Deciding what we will and will not do is a thing we deal with on a daily basis, and these decisions determine how our life progresses, the successes or failures we experience. It is all in our hands isn’t it? I am honestly not sure. If it really were all up to us and us alone, why are we not able to accomplish goals we honestly set out to do? Why do things get in the way of our doing the things we want?

You have a great vacation planned and end up sick and cannot go. You plan a visit to friends in another state and your car breaks down. The cost of the repair makes your trip impossible. It is all so disappointing but, what if it’s actually to protect you from harm? What if it is to help you avoid making mistakes? What if, by changing these plans your life will be better?

This brings me to the next question that I have wondered about for years. Do animals have a soul? The bible says, in Heaven that the lion will sleep beside the lamb. So obviously (if you believe in the Bible) animals are there. They too are eternal. My experiences have shown me firstly, that they reincarnate, and yes they too are eternal.

The amazing awakening for me was plant life and its intellectual existence. I will get into that later, but I do know this; all created life has awareness. Do not confuse that with a brain. It looks like our brain might actually be the storage for everything that we know and learn. Plants don’t need that. They do not move around looking for food or do any of the things required by man. They are cared for and provided for by nature. They remember, recognize and feel pain, which has been proven.

It has recently been determined that every cell in the human body has a memory. That explains how our lungs and heart and brain keep working when we sleep. Moreover, we do not have a clue what is going on around or inside of us while sleeping so it is a good thing our cells know what to do while we are away. Where do we go when we sleep?

An other thing that sets us apart from other life forms is that all created life, with the exception of man, is honest and purposeful in its existence. It takes care of its needs without an ulterior motive or selfishness. No lies no deception. It takes what it needs today to survive and hoards only the food it will need to survive a winter. Other than that it needs nothing. Simple seems to be the mantra of nature.

How many times have you looked back and wished you had made different choices? Making the wrong choices, actually does help us figure out how to make better ones the next time. Again, if we are paying close attention, the feelings inside us also let us know when we are right or wrong. For me, that feeling is just below my throat in my upper chest that tells me if it is a good or bad decision. When I get the feeling that it is a bad decision, I rethink my choices. I have never regretted that. What I have regretted is not listening to that feeling for years… consequently I do not credit myself with a great amount of intellect. I do however; know what not to do in most situations that I find myself in. That I credit to having done it wrong in the past.

Yes, there are some people that are quick studies, and then there are we slow learners. There are the rich and there are the poor. On every level there are exact opposites. Then you have the All men are created equal Really! Actually… in fact we are. We are all born from
