My Mended Heart - Micah N. Dillon

    Dedication

I would like to dedicate this book to my loving husband of 13 years, Benjamin Stevan Dillon. Thank you for the unconditional love you gave to me and everyone you encountered. It has been said everyone felt you were their best friend. You would be happy to know all of those best friends have reciprocated your many acts of kindness back to me and the kids. To you, I will always be grateful. For you were the closest example of Jesus that I have experienced on earth. I cannot wait to embrace you in heaven.

    Acknowledgements

My two wonderful children, Stone and Stella:

You are my sunshine and my drive to be the more God has called me to be. Know you are my best gift and I cherish you every day as you bring me endless joy. I love you Stone and Stella, now and forever.

    My Family:

I have been shown love, strength, and the power of prayer throughout my life. Thank you for believing in me, for standing with me, and for encouraging me to follow after Jesus, my true source. Thank you for teaching me to hunger for the presence of God and to worship Him in an authentic way.

    The Dillon Family:

For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.

    Ruth 1:16 NKJV

These were the vows I spoke on June 5, 2004, and have stood by ever since. When Ben passed, I made this statement, I might have gotten here because of my last name, but I’m not staying here because of it. I made a choice right then and there that this goes beyond my last name. WE ARE FAMILY! Eternal rewards come to those who can see past the natural realm and into the spiritual. The covenant I made with your family was eternal; and for that I am forever grateful.

    My Rock Church Family:

Thank you for showing me what a local church body can

do when you put faith into action. I have experienced the presence of God in a greater measure as we have worshipped together. Grieving together made everything better. Thank you for believing in miracles with me. We will continue to hold on to His promises.

    The Franklin, Virginia Community:

I am proud to be a part of a community that shows up

for people. You have taught me that we are better together. We can go further, longer, and stronger when we are together. Thank you for all the hometown goodness.

    A Note to the Reader

How many of us have perceptions of who others are—without actually asking them how they came to be? How many of us assume we know
