    Acknowledgements

This book could not have been possible without the introduction of the Charismatic Movement that began sometime in the 1960s in the Catholic church and many other denominational churches worldwide. It is the saving grace of our Father in heaven that, to this day, is blowing the wind of Pentecost all over planet earth! To Him alone I bow down with my life and give Him all the glory for the transformation He lovingly made to the deep recesses of my heart! Without His strength, I could not have sustained the hard blows of the tragedies I had to endure in my eighty-nine years of existence.

As my life is winding down, I give thanks to all the priests and pastors who are spreading God’s Word and calling lost souls to receive the blessings and gifts of the Holy Spirit. May God bless you and strengthen you in your faith.

I am especially grateful to Father Dan Doyle, who is reading my book from the Mansion Jesus prepared for him in heaven. I always felt a divine aura in his presence.

My deepest appreciation for the insight my editor Carolyn Goss has given me to make my words in this manuscript more appealing to the reader.

I pray the Holy Spirit’s breath upon all creation and upon all mankind!

    Introduction

For years, I have struggled with the idea of putting on paper the personal accounts of my encounters with the divine. For years, I have procrastinated, but the desire has always been in my heart.

Now as I begin, I want to make it clear that this desire to share arises from my longing to tell the reader that for me, God is real. I firmly believe He can be found when you search for Him with your whole mind and your whole heart, as I did. I have the boldness to make such a statement only because in the course of my research I have discovered many other humans who have had the same experience.

My intent in writing this book is not to impress anyone with my spirituality or convince anyone about the existence of God. Only God can do that. He takes the initiative in our salvation, and we respond to His call if we want to follow Him. My intention is to share with the reader my own experiences with the power of God.

Time and again, I have kept a constant dialogue with my inner self, subtly presuming that such accounts would project an air of grandeur on my part, possibly conveying the impression of being a better than thou person, favored by the Almighty to receive special gifts.

Thoughts like these have run through my mind: Who do you think you are, Emily? Who is going to believe you? You will be the center of ridicule! On and on, these thoughts have kept colliding with a stronger desire to get going. The voice in my soul urges me: Sit at the computer and write your story, already! Or Stop the rumors and listen to that inner voice you heard so many times directing your steps!

    And so I have!

Why did I wait so long? As my days on earth are getting fewer, I will dedicate to this endeavor every moment of time still allotted to my life on earth. I turn now to God before I begin this special account, and I ask humbly for His help, as I have done so many times in the past, letting a few simple words reach His throne of grace as I ask for His wisdom to guide my thoughts and bring back memories in their full accuracy:

My dear Lord, you know my heart much better than I do, and you are the author of my desires. You know my motives, and you know my thoughts, especially the ones that keep persisting with ever more tenacity because they want to exalt you. Humbly, I ask you to make me feel your Holy Spirit inside me whispering gently into my spirit the words I need to accomplish this task. Thank you for listening and for answering my request.

As I end those words to God, I am ready to begin to tell you what happened to me.

    Chapter 1

    Do Miracles Really Happen?

Miracles! Do they really happen? The definition in Webster’s dictionary reads: An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs.

Wow! It is so simple and so easy to understand! But do they really happen? As I was brought up in the Catholic faith, I always believed that they do happen. However, it seemed to me that this fabulous phenomenon was reserved for those very holy people able to communicate with God or with the saints and that they would experience miracles only because they were worthy of them.

But what about me? Could I have the boldness to believe that a miracle could happen to me? After all, how could I expect such favor when I considered myself an ordinary, unworthy sinner? How could I dare to think about miracles?

No, I was not expecting a miracle on that memo-

rable afternoon of June 6, 1977, the day I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit and was born again. I was only hoping that God’s mercy and grace would ease the many difficulties and horrible circumstances I was experiencing at the time. Never did it cross my mind that God did know better.

Therefore, with a resounding yes, I am declaring that on that day, indeed, God blessed me with a miracle! It was the miracle that He thought was best for me. And the fact that I am writing about it today, at the young age of eighty-nine years old, is evidence that God really knows best.

As I pour my heart out, I thank the Holy Spirit for helping me to look back and describe on these pages when, how, and why this miracle happened to me. My
