    Introduction

Our world consists of many trials and tribulations. They are presented at every stage of our life. Sometimes these ills cause us to become emotionally overwhelmed and destroy our will to overcome or live. These tribulations may be of past or present situations causing emotional hurt. We become so infested by our troubles that life stop being life, but a living hell of despair and miseries. We allow our miseries to define us to the point where we lose sight of who we are and our self-perception. There seems no escape from our miseries and we feel destine there is no hope. We can decide that life is not fair. We may ask the question; Why me Lord? The answer is in Matthew 5:45 as part of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says this about God the Father: He makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust (ESV).

There’s a difference between being hurt and being harmed. One can heal from hurt, but being harmed totally destroys every fiber of our being. Harm means not putting forth the motivation and effort of self-empowerment. This book provides a cognitive process and opportunity to discover that healing from the ills of the world we live in, really exist within us. It is a combination of theological and psychological concepts. We can’t control the world around us, but the greatest power we have is to control the world within ourselves. Man should grow from the inside out, not from the outside in.

The dynamics of the environmental conditions surrounding a newborn is vitally important in determining the newborn’s identity. The world they are introduced to can impact the rest of their life. That introduction determines the multifaceted developmental process of self-concept and the impressions of their surrounding world. Parents or parent substitutes are the ones who initially offer those determinants. Once leaving the care, security and nurturing environment of the hospital, parents are the extended resource for guiding the developmental process. Some enter a world introducing them to physical and/or emotional pain. For these individuals, the beginning of unhealthy self-concept and the world they live are perceived.

At this point, life can be a struggle. Some individuals reach a point of being sick and tired of being sick and tired and seek professional care. Others stay in a world of misery resulting in catastrophic behaviors including death. Some think the only way to stop the madness of emotional pain is to stop life itself. This book offers the reader a
