Part I
Getting to Know Him
I call this section Getting to Know Him
because I want to tell how I came to really know Him, how I came to trust Him, and how I came to love Him. If I am to tell a complete story about my love for Him, I have to show how I was introduced to God and how I had to let go of my plan and trust His plan. I have to admit, my plan had me in an abusive marriage living far away from my family and friends. By telling those aspects of my life, I will reveal how trusting Him placed me in a position to receive the blessing He had in store for me.
For so long, I prayed and prayed for God to bless me with a child. I could not understand why my prayers were not being answered. It was not until I trusted Him and started to follow the path He wanted me to follow that I started to receive blessing after blessing. Depending on one’s views, fortunately or unfortunately before the blessing comes the journey. Once my journey is revealed to you, you will wonder why I do not regret any aspect of it. I do not regret any parts of my journey because without it I would not appreciate the sweet life I enjoy today. It would not mean as much or feel as precious. I know I have Jesus to thank for it.

My family and I went to church every Sunday, especially when I was young. I know some children do not like church all that much. They do not like getting dressed up, or they don’t like sitting there listening to a man talk about things they don’t really understand. However, I must say that getting a piece of gum or candy from my mother’s purse made it more bearable. Mostly, I did not mind going to church, especially when we went with our cousins. Meeting up with them always made it fun. They were my partners in crime, if I can say that about
