About this ebook
With his eight poetry collection Michael Tavon continues to shows he only gets better with time. The eccentric and bold author follows the success of his previous collection "Dreaming in a Perfect World" with "The Pisces". In typical fashion, he does not shy away from exploring new themes , nor he isn't afraid to get personal. This collection is filled with themes of growing older, spirituality, childhood wonder, and becoming your true self. During times of darkness and confusion, Tavon hopes his readers will be inspired to find their light within the struggle.
Michael Tavon
Michael Tavon (1991) was born St. Petersburg, Florida to Michael & Desiree Patterson. Although Tavon and two sisters grew up in low income-crime driven neighborhoods his parents instilled the importance of goals, education, and the 'will-to-do-good' in their children. As a child he developed a likeness for literature and television. His first book,"Garage Band The Legend of Dookie Harris", was self-published in 2014. Tavon is currently pursuing his Bachelors degree in Creative writing and will be attending the University of Central Florida in 2018.

The Pisces - Michael Tavon
Part I:
The Silver Lining
Cloud Dreamer
My head remains
in the clouds
Because my dreams
keep me alive
Stop looking into the future; it doesn’t exist. Today, this present moment is the only blessing guaranteed. Soak in the love. Open your eyes to the light. The more you reach for the future that seems too elusive to grab, the more misery you’ll bring to your beautiful heart. Appreciate every step you take. The present is a present, cherish it, or you will look back on your journey with miles of regret for overlooking everything you had in front of you.
People like You
People like you are stronger than given credit for. You bend over backwards for people who step over you, but spreading joy still comes more naturally than breathing. The world uses your kindness as a crutch to support their dead weight, but you don’t let them break you. Despite being everyone’s favorite afterthought, you never hesitate to save a loved one from their misery. You find reasons to smile with a heart permanently scarred and bruised. People like you have infinite reasons to become heartless, but you’re stronger than the environment around you. Love conquers all, and you’ve defeated all odds. You’re stronger than what you’re given credit for. Never forget that.
Prison
I served my heart
the greatest justice
by releasing it from
the grudges
it was wrongly
imprisoned by
R.I.P to the old me
Rest in Peace to the soul I used to know. You fought and clawed until you no longer recognized who you were, that’s something to be proud of. At times you were lost, but you were always brave enough to follow your heart. Tears constantly flooded your eyes because you convinced yourself your heart was impossible to fall for. Your hope was a rollercoaster because you never felt confident enough to believe in yourself. Now that you’re gone, you’d be happy to know, you’ve found someone who is proud to hold you at night, and your heart beats a mile a minute for them too. The dreams that once kept you up at night are now your reality. You no longer pour poison down your throat, to numb your sorrows. You no longer burn enough trees to kill a forest. Nor do you indulge in porn until your eyes sore. Now, you only enjoy those things in moderation. You should be proud you made it this far; now I’ll take it from here Sorry I must let you go, you are now allowed to rest knowing all the work you put in didn’t go in vain, without you I wouldn’t be who I am today.
Note to Self:
You are closer to the beginning than the end. When you view life from this perspective, you’ll see there’s no need to rush through anything. Each day is an opportunity to start fresh or move forward.
Conversations with my Imaginary Therapist
When I walk into the warm room
Decorated with pictures.
and degrees,
I stretch across the
Nude-colored chaise,
The therapist:
What brings you in today?
I’ll take a deep breath
To allow my boiling
Nerves to settle
Like water on the stove
When the temperature is lowered
And say:
Some nights,
my bed might as well
Be a pallet of bricks
For how hard it is
To sleep with
So much self-pity
weighing down
on my aching back
I feel like I’ve failed
at everything in life
And what I protect
Wouldn’t give a fuck
If I got hit by a truck
Because dying in my prime
Is what I fear most
What if people forget about me
Soon after I’m gone?
What if people decide
to admire me out of guilt
For not appreciating
me while I was here
The therapist jots some notes
And ask:
Why do you feel like this?
My response:
See, when you give
so much of yourself
And receive little in return,
Your mind begins to wonder
If you’re good enough
Therapist: so, you doubt yourself?
Me: (laughing)
If self-doubt were a drug
I would’ve relapsed a thousand times
I believe in myself,
But
Therapist: but what?
Me: sometimes it’s like
My confidence is tiptoeing on
A tight rope,
I love myself,
But I fear the world
Doesn’t appreciate me
Enough to catch me
When I fall
Therapist:
so, you don’t trust the universe?
Me:
that’s not it,
I just want to know
when will my
