About this ebook

Hidden Causes of Common Health Problems & How To Heal Them Naturally

Many women wonder why they face problems without answers and yet they probably know others with similar problems and no real good answers.

Why the big mystery and why is it so hard to get good answers?

Mostly because of lack of insight into natural cause and effect; creating situations that they are not aware of that are affecting their health. Then this lack of awareness continues with the medical profession, which leads to treating symptoms instead of causes and using drugs and surgery. The right natural treatment gives your body what it is missing and gives it a chance to heal naturally without negative or dangerous side effects.

The key is learning to balance your body naturally by giving it what it needs.

The healthiest people on earth are people who give their body what it needs for good health and maintenance.

YOU CAN BE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!

This book is the result of over 35 research and experience in natural health. If you are ready for positive health changes, this book can help you to do it!

Natural Remedies for Common Problems - V.C. Cullen

    Chapter One

    PMS & Other Female Problems

The percentage of females who suffer some sort of aggravating symptoms directly associated with their monthly cycle has been estimated as high as 75% in industrialized countries.

The exact number doesn’t really matter but the point is that there are many females suffering constantly and most of them don’t realize that they can have freedom from carrying this millstone their whole life.

Other female problems have also increased at an alarming rate in recent decades. Infertility, PCOS, fibroid tumors, irregular periods, breast cancer, PMS Symptoms, and on and on.

These types of problems increased many fold in industrialized countries due to some important changes in our food chain and environment in recent decades, making these problems increase at an alarming rate in the females of recent generations.

Not only an increase in the amount of women suffering from reproductive symptoms, but the symptoms becoming more acute and also dangerous. Dangerous - as in unwanted growths in the female reproductive system and even cancer. As time goes by, other physical symptoms will also occur that will mystify your doctor.

Even more alarming is the fact that girls are reaching puberty years earlier than they did a generation ago. Many girls 9-10 years old (some even earlier) are beginning puberty and displaying symptoms of these female problems when they should not be experiencing any such symptoms at all.

They are coming face to face with problems and emotions at an age when they are not quite ready to deal with them and this is showing up in the problems the younger generation are presently having.

At such a young age, it may seem exciting for some of them to be physically growing up but it is also a time of frustration and emotional and mental upset since they have no idea what is happening to them regarding symptoms and emotions. This also results in mental anguish for many young girls who are too embarrassed by their problems to tell anyone.

So, why are women and young girls having these problems?

It is definitely not normal although when something happens to a large segment of the population, people begin to consider it normal and just a part of their life when they encounter it regularly.

The answer is exposure to manmade chemicals called xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens are mostly petroleum based synthetic estrogens and are now present throughout our food chain, water supply and environment.

Also, synthetic hormones such as birth control and HRT (medical hormone replacement therapy) cause hormone imbalance. That’s how they stop pregnancy from occurring - by creating hormone imbalance in your body.

First, some background on the role of estrogen in the body.

Estrogen is a growth hormone and is responsible for development of female characteristics during puberty. Estrogen also stimulates the buildup of tissue and blood at the beginning of the menstrual cycle.

The problems begin when levels of estrogen, natural or synthetic, aren’t counter balanced by sufficient amounts of natural progesterone. Excess estrogen leads to continuous, unrestrained cell stimulation and can lead to the following problems.

Excess estrogen is the only known cause of endometrial cancer

    Increased risk of breast cancer

    Loss of bone mass (osteoporosis)

    Weight gain

    Impaired blood sugar control

    Fibrocystic breasts

    Fibroid tumors

    Depression and irritability

    Cramping and bloating

    Hot flashes and night sweats

    Decreased libido

    Hirsutism (Increased body hair)

    Thinning of scalp hair

    Migraine headaches

    Thyroid problems

    Increased blood clotting

    ––––––––

Xenoestrogens have also been strongly implicated in declining male sperm production and the increase in rates of testicular and prostate cancer.

Yes, men are affected too! Although it seems not yet as much as women, more and more men are displaying symptoms such as decreased sex drive, gynecomastia (manboobs), hair loss, prostate problems, etc. as a result of hormone imbalance.

These xenoestrogens are synthetic hormones given to livestock to speed up growth and also to increase production (meat, milk, eggs, etc.). Then, these synthetic hormones end up in your body and can play havoc with your system. Because these synthetic hormones interfere with your natural hormones, they can interfere with many body functions and not only the reproductive system.

Hormones are the body’s messenger system. They tell the various cells of the body what to do and when. Everything that happens within the body is initiated by hormones that attach to special receptor sites on each individual cell. Problems occur when hormones get out of balance and xenoestrogens are one of the major causes of this imbalance.

Xenoestrogens attach to the hormone receptor sites in your body but your body does not recognize them as natural and this is where the problems begin. Many of the common female type problems are a result of the overabundance of these synthetic hormones in the body.

The answer to this is to balance the excess estrogens since excess estrogen is usually the problem in many female hormonal symptoms.

The only natural balancer for excessive estrogen in the body is natural progesterone, not more estrogen. However, when there are too many estrogen type hormones, your body cannot make enough progesterone to balance the excess.

Due to all the synthetic hormones in the diet and the problems they cause, every female reaching puberty could avoid many problems by supplementing with a natural progesterone cream. Having a nutritional profile done to see what supplements you may be short of is also a key to rebalancing hormones. Due to the modern diet, many people are short of key nutrients.

Many men and women could improve and maintain better health with progesterone supplementation and adding the right supplements and improving diet would greatly accelerate it. This would help counteract the effects of all the synthetic hormones that result in a slow progression of hormone imbalance resulting in hormonal/menopausal type symptoms and problems. There are also herbs that are very good at stimulating hormone production.

What about the synthetic progesterone’s such as Provera that many doctors prescribe to help balance hormones? Progesterone is a natural substance that can’t be patented, so the pharmaceutical companies have to modify it. They create a new molecule that does not exist in nature, called medroxyprogesterone, so they can take out a patent. This artificial type of progesterone is what most medical doctors prescribe.

This slight modification of molecules can cause extremely negative effects on the body because the body does not recognize them as natural.

Below is a sample of Provera side effects that are listed in the Physician’s Desk Reference - the guide many doctors use when prescribing drugs.

    Depression

    Birth defects

    Increased body hair

    Acne

    Risk of embolism

    Decreased glucose tolerance

    Allergic reactions

On the other hand, supplementing with natural progesterone has no known side effects because it is recognized and used by the body as a natural substance. The body actually manufactures it, but in many cases, can’t make enough to counteract all the synthetic hormones present. Many medical doctors still think of progesterone as a pregnancy hormone because levels of progesterone increase a lot during pregnancy.

The truth is that it is a hormone needed by males and females and much higher levels are needed during pregnancy.

    ––––––––

    To Correct Hormone Imbalance:

In addition to a good progesterone cream, 5000 IU of vitamin D3 should be taken each day. This can help to increase the effect of progesterone. Lack of vitamin D has also been noted in research of cases of PCOS.

For blood sugar problems add the B vitamin Inositol. Inositol with progesterone can help to counteract insulin resistance, which leads to diabetes.

One of the best infertility treatments is progesterone cream with vitamin D (5000 IU daily) plus taking iodine drops to improve thyroid function. The thyroid gland plays a large role in hormone balance.

A major cause of PCOS is inadequate levels of progesterone during the second half of the monthly cycle. Vitamin D has been shown to greatly increase the effect of natural progesterone and a lack of vitamin D and progesterone have been noted in many other diseases and conditions.

The above recommendations can help with many physical female problems such as fibroid tumors, PMS, miscarriage, irregular periods, endometriosis and menopause problems in addition to PCOS.

Diet also plays a big role in proper hormone balance and a super healthy diet is the focus of the last part of this book. There are different hormone tests available from natural health practitioners and that is the best way to begin addressing hormone problems. They can tell you which hormones are under or over the normal range. Excess levels can also cause problems.

Sometimes you just may need specific nutrients to help activate more hormone production in your body, depending which hormones you are short of and how low you own production level is.

Women and men use exactly the same hormones - it’s only the amounts that are different. So, women can also be short on testosterone. Too little testosterone can cause many irritating symptoms in men and women. A testosterone shortage can also respond very well to the right herbs and supplements.

Too little testosterone can cause not only reproductive issues, but over time also cause circulatory problems (including varicose veins), sore, achy muscles, food sensitivities, slower healing, faster skin aging, etc.

    Chapter Two

    Birth Control & Hormone

    Replacement Therapy

Birth control pills work by inhibiting the development of the egg in the woman’s ovary during the monthly cycle. During the menstrual cycle, a low estrogen level normally triggers the pituitary gland to send out a hormone that initiates development of an egg.

Birth control pills are formulated to release enough synthetic estrogen to keep the egg development hormone from being released. Birth control pills also contain another synthetic hormone, progestin, which increases the thickness of cervical mucus and affects development of the uterine lining to further prevent pregnancy.

Presently there is only one form of synthetic estrogen, ethinyl estradiol, being used. Progestin is the synthetic form of progesterone, the other hormone commonly used in birth control.

Many times birth control pills cause negative side effects due to interference with natural hormones as mentioned before. Some of these side effects are acne and hair growth where you don’t want hair growth or losing hair where you want to keep it.

Following are some of the problems that have been noted by women taking synthetic hormones in the form of birth control.

    Hair loss

Hirsutism (hair where you don’t want it)

    Excessive and long term bleeding

    Weight gain & fluid retention

    Headaches

    Irregular periods

    Fatigue

    Abdominal pain

    Decreased sexual desire

    Chest pain

    Vision problems

    Dizziness

    Stomach upset

    Bloating

    Nausea

    Depression

    Lumps in the breast

    Weakness

    Tingling in arms or legs
