The Evolution of a Victim Turned Victorious

About this ebook
The Evolution of a Victim Turned Victorious is the gripping account of one woman's struggle at the hands of everyone she trusted, her faith in God, and the strength to overcome. Author Tonja Nunnally candidly shares how she was given away at a young age, developed trust and abandonment issues, and even contemplated suicide. This poignant recollection captures accounts of verbal and sexual abuse, domestic violence, and tormenting fear. Refusing to allow her past to define her future, Nunnally found solace in writing. She became a strong-minded and strong-willed woman, determined to not allow anything or anyone to stop her from accomplishing her goals.

Dedication
Apostle Yvette Brinson
I was a member of Redeeming Word Christians Center International from 2008 – 2015. It was during praise & worship, and one of the questions Apostle Yvette Brinson asked, Who wants God to show them their purpose?
I quickly raised my hands just as everyone else did. You.
, she said. I turned and looked in the back of the church. I thought she was talking to someone else. She said, You that just looked back, God has a word for you. Come to the alter
. She said, God told me you’ve been hurt, you’ve been through a lot, and you have a story to tell.
You are going to heal and minister to a lot of women one day. Not now, but you will know when. I knew exactly what she was talking about. At the same time, I was thinking to myself,
I don’t know who she is talking to, I’m not telling anyone what I went through and minister to women too. Then Pastor Yvette asked,
You understand what I said? I said,
Yes." And went back to my seat.
Years later, as I finished my book and then started preparing for my upcoming event for women Her She Women’s Empowerment Organization
, where I share my testimony with other women in hopes that they are healed and set free. In that moment, I heard Pastor Yvette Brinson’s voice. I sat straight up in my chair, as that Sunday played in my mind as if I were standing there at the altar.

FOREWARD
I hid behind my hurt and pain, carrying these afflictions for years. The one sure way of escape was through my poetry, and I found that to be my personal peace and solace from the pain.
I began opening up through my stories in these short poems and soon learned that there were others just like me who were going through or went through similar situations.
As I
