About this ebook

Sucker Punch: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 27 by Laurell K. Hamilton: Conversation Starters

Sucker Punch by Laurell K. Hamilton is the 27th installment in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. The story follows U.S. Marshal Anita Blake as she goes to a small Michigan community to help a fellow Marshal, Winston Newman, manage an execution warrant. Newman doesn’t believe that the young wereleopard, Bobby Marchand, is guilty of brutally killing his uncle, Ray Marchand. The problem is that all the townspeople and law enforcers in town are bent on having him executed for the crime. He calls Blake over to confirm his suspicions, and she, too, feels that there is something off about the case. In a race against time to save a possibly innocent supernatural being, Blake requests back-up from Edward ‘Ted’ Forrester and even accepts the assistance of the sociopath and fellow Marshal, Olaf ‘Ottis” Jeffries. They’re all determined to save Bobby and deliver justice, but will they be able to find the real killer and change the name on the warrant before time runs out?
Sucker Punch earned a 3.92-star rating on Goodreads based on 903 reviews and 4,578 ratings. Fans of the series praised Hamilton for returning to the roots of the novel and letting Blake solve mysteries like she used to. They consider this installment in the series her best one in a while.

    Introducing Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch by Laurell K. Hamilton tells the story of U.S. Marshal and famous vampire executioner Anita Blake. In this installment in the series, readers see Blake away from her hometown of St. Louise and in the upper Michigan area to help a fellow marshal deal with an execution warrant.

U.S. Marshal for the preternatural department, Winston Newman, arranges for her to fly to his hometown of Hanuman to assist him in proving the innocence of wereleopard, Bobby Marchand. Upon her arrival, Newman gives her the rundown of the events since Bobby’s uncle, Ray Marchand, was discovered grotesquely murdered in his mansion. Newman had forwarded the crime scene photos to Blake, and she agrees that there was something off about the entire case. Newman vows that he will do his duty and kill Bobby if he is guilty, but he isn’t completely sure that they have the right name in the warrant. She relays her sympathy but makes sure that he maintains an objective view of what they are up against. They have only three days to prove Bobby’s innocence and find the real suspect, after which Newman will either be forced to pull the trigger or face the consequences of neglecting his
