Dedicated To The Memory Of My Friend John. Until We Meet Again My Brother I'll Continue To Serve Jesus Christ.

    Chapter 1: Spirit Of Python

...DESPISE NOT YOU THE chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loves He chastens...If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons...for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness...Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them which are exercised thereby (Hebrews 12:5-11). Chastens means to train up a child, educate, instruct and correct, all in the context of love. Whatever mind-set or urge we have to follow after self, God desires for us to grow up into mature sons of God

WHEN WE APPROACH THE threshold into our calling, the spirit of Python has the legal right to test our choices. It tested Jesus' choices as He was about to start His ministry (in what is often called the temptation in the wilderness). And we are not exempt from Python's attention, either.

MANY PEOPLE MAKE THE mistake of thinking that, to overcome Python, we need more faith. If you have made this error, don't feel bad about it because even the apostle Paul, when he encountered the spirit of Python at Philippi, did something similar. He got aggravated and, although God minimised the damage and even brought good out of it through the conversion of the Philippian jailer, Paul's ministry in the town was over. He had to leave that very day. Paul obviously realised his mistake and, by the time he got to Corinth - a major centre of Python worship - he knew where he went wrong. And he wrote to the Corinthians telling them how to deal with Python. We miss the nuances of his answer because we aren't aware of what worship of this spirit involved. But it's written in 1 Corinthians 13. The spirit of Python is overcome by love.

LOVE OF GOD, LOVE OF neighbour.

BUT WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL. Our fleshly forms of love are no use at all. We each have a love language and what works for me probably won't work for you. In addition, love is often determined by specific circumstances.

THINK ABOUT GIRAFFE love, for example. Sometimes, after a baby giraffe is born and it drops a couple of metres to the ground, the first thing the mother does is kick it. And when it gets up, she kicks it down. And if it stays down, she kicks it up. And then she kicks it down. Pretty soon, that baby giraffe is going to be quick on its feet avoiding mum's hooves. And that's the point: mummy giraffe is preparing her child for life in the hostile wild.

WHEN WE'RE FACING THE spirit of Python working through other people, we have to always stop and ask God: "What is the most loving thing to do at this moment? Does love look like a warm, fuzzy
