Claim it! Don't Blame It! - Ray "Lefty" Rhodes
PREFACE
A rich and very wealthy man looked around himself and saw misery and self-doubt everywhere. He got tired of being asked the same questions: How can you possibly always be happy? Have you always been happy? What’s the secret to your success and happiness?
One day, he’d had enough. He jumped up and screamed, "Are you in a bad mood or bad situation?! Having a bad day, week, month, year or life? Well, who’s fault is it?
"WAIT Whose life is it?
"Oh, the same answer to multiple totally different questions!
"I’ll show ya.
"OK, if anything is bad in your life, I bet someone else is involved. Think about it!
"OK, now focus on what you can change about yourself and your situation. NOW you’re working toward a goal and that’s your right!!!
"Boys and girls, men and women of America, please let me inform and remind you all that we have the right to the pursuit of happiness!
"This is where the pursuit begins! Welcome to team No Excuses!
"I know you’ve heard these two familiar phrases: shit happens and life’s a bitch. Well, keep those two in mind, because they are both true and fitting, which is why they are common sayings! Admittedly, yes, bad things happen to good people and nobody can explain why their god would bless or allow bad or evil people to have riches and wealth. They also can’t explain why some babies catch stray bullets, and all the other bad things that happen every day. So, I suggest you focus on yourself, your peace and your happiness by harnessing all the positivity you can and taking control of every situation. Take charge in life. Start claiming your life, not blaming anything or anyone else anymore!
"It’s all up to you — so claim it, don’t blame it!
What are claiming and blaming?
Claim: an assertion of something as a fact
Blame: assigning responsibility for a fault or wrong.
Dictionary.com defines claim as: an assertion of something as a fact/to assert and demand the recognition of (a right, title, possession, etc.); assert one’s right to claim payment for services.
The same source defines blame as: to place the responsibility for (a fault, error, etc.) usually followed by on, for example: I blame the accident on her.
Therefore, to claim anything or blame anything, you first have to acknowledge that you are aware of the evidence, fact, truth or experience (problem) that you are referring to when you are claiming or blaming said instance. This could be a plethora of possibilities, but we’ll stick to things I know about and have conquered myself in the upcoming chapters.
Please remember the whole time you’re reading, the reason for claiming and not blaming is simply to achieve your own happiness. Doing this will lead to your overall success and will make your world a better place!
If you are a better YOU every day, and you assist and/or inspire everyone you are around, then they will do the same, guaranteeing that the world will indeed be a better place.
So, let’s start now, with ourselves. Let’s all claim it, don’t blame it!
INTRODUCTION
In this book, I plan to show people the picture of productivity and positive progression, which could be their future life if they are willing to claim all that holds them back from a happy and successful future instead of blaming it on their unchangeable past or others.
After reading this book, my goal is for you all to aim high, reach those heights, and raise your expectations in life and your level of happiness with yourself and your life. I pray, like always, that this book makes the reader a better and happier person. I hope they learn to value self-investments, and begin to contribute to the world, working to make it a happier, and therefore a better, place.
Amen (so be it)!

Your Past
Let me start by saying that I’m a very cinematic thinker. A lot of movies start off with the main character being grown. The narrator asks where they should start, then says, The beginning, of course.
So, let’s just start with the beginning — any problem you have in your past. Yes, your past is where all problems start. Were you raped? Did you have a sad childhood? Were you lonely, abused, traumatized? On the flip side, did you have a ideal, happy love-filled childhood?
Either way you look at it, your past shapes your future. You have to understand the polarization of feelings on the subject and how this will affect your ability to relate to and be relatable to others. A lot of people make the mistake of using their past as a measure for acceptance, goals,
