7Seven Deadly Sins and How to Overcome Them - C JOSE GARDNER

    INTRODUCTION

WE ALL HAVE IT, YOU know some kind of immoral, shiftless, and self-gratifying habits. Since the beginning of humanity, we have been struggling to find some kind of system to operationalize our spiritual shortcoming. And yet we have not found one. Remember, The Holy Scripture portrays humans as having minds and wills of their own. They are, in a real sense, creators of their own behavior and determiners of their own destinies. Whether or not, this behavior and destiny are however in God’s will or not. This fundamental assumption is demonstrated in a variety of ways throughout the Holy Scripture. It is clearly expressed in Deuteronomy when God tells the children of Israel:

Surely, this commandment that I am commanding you today is not too hard for you, nor is it too far away... See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity. If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways, and observing his commandments, decrees, and ordinances, then you shall live and become numerous, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you do not hear, but are led astray to bow down to other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall perish...I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live.... Deuteronomy 30:11-19(ESV)

Sometimes we condemn ourselves by our own actions. Whether you believe or not, God is the creator of children, not machines. Free will means that we were created with minds, with which we independently think, analyze, draw conclusions, make choices, and have feelings.

Understanding free will means that we can consciously make decisions that are not determined by the physics and biology of our brains. It’s a philosophical and religious concept that has found no support in science, despite the strong illusion that we are free. Even if we do not believe in free will, we still have free will, as long as we remain aware that many factors influence our behaviors.

To some atheists, who do not believe in the almighty God, still believe in free will, which the almighty God has given humanity. Because of free will issues can in fact come with disturbing difficulties. It represents a collision between two opposing, yet equally valid perspectives, purely metaphysical perspectives. If we do not have free will, why are we here? Think about it for a moment.

What is the point of life if we cannot choose our own destiny? Yet from a purely scientific perspective, how is it possible that anything can occur without having been caused by some known action? If we can’t choose our own destiny, then we’re slaves to someone else’s wishes. Think about it, men and women have a different physical characteristic, but all of humanity is created with the ability and responsibility to manage and have authority over their own lives as well as the rest of the physical creation.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:—-1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)

You may not know this but God is teaching humanity to think like him. God cannot accomplish this if he’s doing the thinking for us. We must have freedom of choice. Remember the story of Moses? God gave humanity a great deal of responsibility so that through experience we will grow in the ability and strength of characters to make the right kinds of decisions.

But we all know that some of us are opinionated. Yes we are, but it's good to be passionate about something. But don't get it twisted, being passionate and being opinionated is not the same. Opinionated people are less secure in their own free ability to listen; they too often are trying to prove or show that they're right and that if you differ, you're wrong or stupid and they refuse to hear you or anyone else. These types of people are called know-it-all.

However, being opinionated can be attributed to sinful ways. Yes, the seven deadly ones, the kind which both God who recognizes it and gave us the Book to repent. Scientists know them all too well and try to make excuses on how to solve them. If you go see a psychologist or psychiatrist and that person hears your problem, and gets shocked, excited, and gossipy. You should kindly get up and walk out. This person cannot help with your problems because they have problems of their own. Some psychologists and psychiatrists enter the field to search for answers to the problems they have been having through life.

The deepest problems of the human race are spiritual in nature.——Billy Graham

    Chapter 1

    PRIDE

SOMETIMES being opinionated can be harmful to your soul. Pride is an excessive belief in one's own abilities, which interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity— one of the weapons Lucifer uses to turn humanity against God. Humanity tries to rationalize the reason they are acting in this way. And that's when Lucifer knows he's winning. Pride and Vanity go hand and hand, Lucifer knows this very well. Good character is sometimes hard to come by. You see, you can have pride and still have good character.

Pride is the emotion that triggers Vanity, which caused Lucifer to fall from heaven. Some people look straight in the mirror and deny this trait. Remember, Lucifer did the same with God. He was the most perfect emasculate being and was over all the angels of heaven.

Some people don’t know that they’re
