God And Healing: A Bible Perspective
()
About this ebook
Imagine if a Pastor looked at a friend's foot in a cast and said: "Do you think I should pray for your foot? You don't need prayer! You just need to claim your healing, and God will heal your foot!" A sect in Christianity believes divine healing is just that simple. But is it? What does the Bible actually teach us about "God And Healing?" You can find the answers inside this book.
Author Edward G. Palmer illustrates what he believes is God's perspective on divine healing. This includes a discussion of God's bigger picture and His character. He answers the questions on everyone's mind: "Will God always heal as a result of prayers of faith? Does God have an appointed time for our death? How does faith impact our healing? When we die, what happens to our spirit-soul? What is the impact of our habits on healing? What Bible healing verses can I use in prayer? How should I pray for healing over a sick one or a loved one on their death bed?" Everyone facing a doctor's death diagnosis and wondering about the spiritual side of healing will benefit from reading this book.

CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
GOD HAS NUDGED me throughout my life, but it wasn't until I reached age 32 that I finally got it.
That's if getting it
means finally understanding what God was trying to convey to me.
It was on a sunny spring day in May 1978 that an epiphany occurred. In a fraction of a second, I suddenly knew God. I knew He was real, and I knew I belonged to Him. I suppose I knew He would give me some instructions also since I was finally listening.
At the time, I had finally slowed down long enough to hear God's soft voice. Our lives get so busy; we don't allow the quiet time we need to really know
God.
"Be still and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations. I will
be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10
I remember the details of that day vividly. It was in May of 1978. From 1971 through that fateful day in 1978, I had been in various business ventures. I was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. In May 1978, I had a manufacturing business, which was heading towards bankruptcy; despite my business skills, studies, and insights. You might say that on that particular day, I had hit bottom, and my mind was finally open to God.
A friend of mine had given me Earl Nightengale's "Strangest Secret audio tape. Late in the morning, I decided that I'd had enough.
To heck with the failing business, I'm taking a break to listen to this audiotape."
In the "Strangest Secret" audio recording, Earl Nightengale cited Mark 9:23 from the Bible. If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.
What?? I immediately thought, that's not in the Bible.
Yet, how would I know? I had never read the Bible. I had tried several times but never had gotten past Genesis.
I grabbed the Bible off the shelf and opened it to Mark 9:23, and read the verse. Suddenly, the spiritual lights went on, and I found God. I looked upwards and said: Okay, God, I get it. You lead, and I will follow!
I was excited and went in and told my wife Jackie, I found God.
She said: What took you so long?
It wasn't like God wasn't trying to reach me. I can recount many incidents earlier in my life where I felt a spiritual tug here and there, but this was different.
I was born in January 1946 in Minneapolis. I'm now approaching age 75. I've walked with God for 42 years. I could cry thinking about the lost spiritual opportunities I missed during the first 32 years of my life. I can also tell you that walking your earthly journey with God is a much more exciting time than putting in time without Him.
I fellowship with God throughout the day and practice prayer as Paul taught us to do - without ceasing. I do this in the form of talking through my daily tasks with God as-if
I was at His side. God's words in Holy Scripture speak to me and resonate with my thoughts.
As a result, God has been with me through
