About this ebook

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever, and Lord I shall fear no evil because I know thou art with me, even in the valley of the shadow of death. Father I will claim your promise to me that in 2 Timothy 1;7, You Father, gave me not a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind and I thank and praise You for this. I ask Your continued blessing on our country and pray You would lead and guide our leaders to make decisions that would be in Your will and not their own.

In memory of my loving father, his friends and family

Benjamin Franklin Tucker born in Dothan, Alabama.

February, the nineteenth day, of Nineteen Hundred and Thirty, went to glory and to Jesus, the Tenth day of February, Two Thousand and Nine.

When I think of heroes, I know they have to be personal to each individual.  On the screens of television there is all sorts of super heroes and make believe characters.  Let me say to all, my father was my personal hero, first there is my God and Jesus who died a sinner’s death for my punishment that He did not deserve, and then there’s my father.  My father never went to Hollywood, he never had plenty of anything, but always had just enough.  He was no politician, nor was he a leader of any large corporations, but was rich with common sense and wisdom from the Holy Bible.  He was a hardworking man, who humbled himself before God and depended on God to lead and guide him to be the best husband, and father he could be on this earth.  My father was a man of integrity, honesty, passionately living life for God, and always humbling himself for the welfare of his family and others.  Yes my dad was my real hero, he was my dear friend and closest friend.  The most important thing my father and mother did for me, was that they took me to church and introduced me to Jesus, they were not ashamed to let everyone know about Jesus.  Thank you dad for being a loving and caring father not only to me, but to all your children.  You were a friend’s friend to all who knew you, and I know they loved you to. Thanks be to God for my father and mother that taught me about Jesus.  Sincerely, In Christ Jesus.

    Introduction

Heading Flourish Divider Clip Art INTRODUCTION Heading Flourish Divider Clip Art

As we begin this new study on Prayer and Forgiveness it is so overwhelming to me, that we have the distinct privilege to come before the throne of God, the creator of all things, with our prayers and supplications.

    Philippians 4:6. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Let me just say, Jesus made it this way.  In the Old Testament we find God and creator managing things quite differently. We find a God of, Love?  Yes, a God of, Mercy?  Yes, a God of, Grace?  Yes.  God was the personal interaction with man, he governed and managed people based on right and wrong.  God set the rules through His divine understanding of good and evil, He gave the law.  First it came to Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness, but please understand there was a true understanding of God’s desire and will before Moses came along.  God hates sin, always has and always will.  There were men in the bible that God worked with and raised up to be close to Him, why?  Even though Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they immediately prayed and sought God’s forgiveness.  It is so important for us to realize that God did not disown Adam and Eve, Oh No, He still loved them very much, but He was heartbroken because now instead of talking and WALKING with them in the Garden of Eden, He had to separate Himself from them because of their SIN.

Genesis 3:8.  And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

In this verse we see that Adam and Eve… heard the Lord God walking in the garden…this reference is made after the sin was committed.  Was God literally walking with them in the garden…in the cool of the day…?  Remembering now, Jesus taught that God was a Spirit, and must be worshipped in spirit.

So, now, I want to interject here a thought of my own, not intending or trying to change God’s word, Oh No, heaven forbid, but, to add a little extra thought.  Today I say, I walk with God daily.  In my spirit, I walk with God, I know He is here with me, but I can’t physically see Him.  Now I don’t know if Adam was able to see God or not, but because of his perfection at his time of creation, his spiritual reality towards God was greater than anything we have ever known.  My point is simply that Adam, spiritually, may have walked with God in the garden in the cool of the day, and was not necessarily a physical experience.  I am saying all this because I want to bring to light the prayer and emotional pleading to God for forgiveness.  We must now go to the ancient book of Adam and Eve, book one, here we will find in chapter 3 God’s promise to Adam that in 5,500 years He would send His Word (Jesus) to redeem them.  It says in verse 5, that Adam cried out to God in PRAYER.  We must realize that before Adam sinned, he was holy, and with God, and talked with God spiritually, because God’s divine Spirit, the Holy Spirit, was in Adam.  Because of sin in Adam’s life, he now was separated from God, and had to vocally pray to God through his human spirit, which was once with, and like God, but now was separated, from God’s Holy Spirit, and required prayer to communicate.  Hopefully this makes sense to everybody.  This is the separation from God because of sin.  At the end of chapter one, Adam and Eve, book one, we see where God commanded them to live in a cave, Cave of Treasures.   Chapter 5:1. Then Adam and Eve entered the cave, and stood praying, in their own tongue, unknown to us, but which they knew well.

Now Adam told Eve they must enter the cave or they would be guilty of disobeying God again.  My point in all this is that prayer and forgiveness is not new, but from the ancient, ancient days of Adam and Eve.

Through our prayers today we interact with God, not only vocally but spiritually.  It is a different world for us, in this Dispensation of the Age of Grace.  Ephesians 3:2. If indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you,

Paul tells us in the New Testament that this Age of Grace was hidden in God since the beginning and foundation of the earth.  It was a mystery to all, until it was revealed to Paul, to tell to all of us, and all this is possible because of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the promised redeemer to Adam in the book of Adam and Eve, book one.  When we believe on Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection, in our hearts, the Holy Spirit of God comes to reside in us.  Nowhere in the history of the bible did this happen, on a permanent basis, until after Jesus was resurrected and returned to His Father, God.  At this point the Father, God, sent the Comforter as told by Jesus in John 14:16. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; then again in John 14:26 we find more detail about the Comforter. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Now some readers may be saying, What is the point of this?  Well, as I have said before, Glad you ask.  For the first time in the history of the world we live in, God has provided His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, the third part of the Trinity, to abide in man for – How long?Forever!! – How long is that?Forever!"  Forever my friends has no ending.  It is so important for us to understand that God bought man with a price, the price being His only begotten Son.  If you believe on Jesus Christ, death, burial and resurrection, you are saved and belong to God.  The bible says we are children of God, and may I say at this point God does not abandon His children, nor forsake them.  God is not a quitter, like many humans, Oh No.  When God starts something, He will see it to completion.  There are so many today that believe that every time they sin or make a mistake in life that they have to be resaved.  How do you get resaved?  I say that if you have a problem with this, you may not have been saved to begin with.  Possibly?

Our prayer life to God is so important to each of us, it is the communication with our Heavenly Father, with Jesus, our brother, our Savior, it is our means of vocal expression, to the creator, of all that we know.  How wonderful, that I have the privilege, to come before the Throne of the Living God, of whom, I am not even worthy to look upon, yet He called me by name, and ask me to believe in His beloved Son.  I, because of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross, can come and lay my petitions, and supplications at the foot of God’s Throne, and you know what’s even more amazing?  God hears me, and wants to answer my prayers, especially if there within His will.  God’s will, will be accomplished and He does not work outside of His will, this is His nature, and He don’t violate His nature, because He can’t, even if He wanted to. These are the most amazing truths I know, God wants me to PRAY and seek Him.  He wants to forgive my sins, and tells me to forgive others.  If I don’t, He can’t forgive me, again, that’s His nature, of which He cannot violate.  So I conclude that prayer and forgiveness go hand in hand with each other.  So, in this praying we naturally want to ask, Where and how does the Holy Spirit or Comforter interact in this?  Well, the Holy Spirit utters unknown sayings to God, in our behalf.  He knows the heart, and when we know not what to speak, the Holy Spirit speaks for us.  I don’t want to take anything away from this writing as we begin to address all these subjects, but let me close this introduction with this concluding scripture.  Romans 8:26-28.

    26) Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

    27) Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

    28) And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

I pray God will bless His precious, and divine Word, and He always does.

I pray that God will bless this writing, and that it would be a blessing to all who read these words.

I pray a blessing upon each of you, and also that Jesus will be a real part of each life.

I pray that Jesus, our beloved Savior, will continue to draw all men to Himself.  He loves and gave Himself for ever body.  No one is excluded.  God Bless You All.

    DOCTRINE OF PRAYER

So when we speak of prayer to God, what thoughts cross your mind?  Do you think reverently towards God, or do you have a doubt in your heart that He exist?  I feel that today this is more relevant than not.  For those who do pray and talk with God do we have a spot of selfishness in our hearts, so that all we pray is for what we want?  I’m just saying; the bible does not teach this.  So many, including believers, try and use prayer to get their own way, and not God’s way.  As we said in the introduction, our prayers must be compatible with God’s will and His way.  Sometimes that may be our will and our way, but other times it may not.

First John 5:14-15.  14) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15) And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Have you ever noticed how people call upon God in their time of trouble?  I tell you it never fails.  Any other time they don’t even recognize or give God a second thought.  Prayer is not designed to get us out of trouble.  It is to express our helplessness, our humility, our total
