In Memory of...

My father, Hermond Lee Gorham, was my first Bible teacher. I can still remember, as a young girl, how he would sit on the floor with us and teach us the Word of God.

My mother, Mary Wilkins Gorham, was my first best friend and a true example of a prayer warrior and a Proverbs 31 – Titus Woman.

Introduction

I was introduced to a powerful, praying woman named Maunette Tait many years ago. Upon us just casually talking, she says, So Vassie, when will you write your devotional? Can I tell you, Reader, I laughed because, in my mind, I said, I can’t do that? On another occasion, I talked with Vanessa Bonner, and she began talking to me about writing a devotional. I laughed again and just put it out of my mind. Then the Lord said, Write a book of prayers. This time, I had to act and obey. I asked Holy Spirit to help me with this assignment and asked him to give me Spirit-led prayers. Reader, this could not be just a bunch of flowery words and Amen at the end. I understood what the Lord was calling me to do through this book. These are not soulish, surface prayers but Spirit-led prayers to get to the root of your issues, healing for the soul and peace for the troubled mind. My sincere prayer for you is that through the powerful working of the Holy Spirit, a fire will be ignited in you to pray without ceasing. As you pray in faith, you will experience answered prayers and a peace that surpasses all understanding. With that said, "Reader, Let’s Pray!

Your Redeemer Lives

This morning I declare to you that your redeemer lives. The One that’s able to bring your life back from destruction, the one that’s able to bring you back from that nasty fall, the one that’s able to bring you back from the pit of depression and self-condemnation, the one that’s able to pull you out of the fire. Your redeemer lives, and because He lives, you live. You are redeemed, and it’s time for you to say so! Come on now, say it, I’m redeemed! Say it loud, say it with authority, I’m redeemed.

I’m reminded of the scripture,

Immanuel, God with Us.

Whatever or whomever you may

encounter today, remember that

Immanuel, God is with you.

Good Morning, Holy Spirit

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever…

John 14:16

Holy Spirit, I can’t make it without You. Empower me to do everything I need to do today, and empower me to walk in love towards those who make it difficult to love. I need wisdom and guidance in everything I will have to face today. My heart’s desire is that I may feel Your abiding presence all through my day, in Jesus’ name.
