Cultivating A Thankful Attitude

About this ebook
A thankful heart is a joyful heart. The Book of Proverbs 17:22 says, " A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones" Proverbs 15:13 says, "A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.'' A thankful attitude relaxes the nerves and reduces a person's stress level. When the stress level is high, stress may raise the blood pressure which could be injurious to a person's health. Maintaining a thankful attitude will keep a person from the spirit of depression which is ravaging this generation hard with devastating consequences. A thankful heart calms a person down and frees them from worry and anxiety. It invigorates and inspires hope even in the midst of crises.

CULTIVATING A THANKFUL ATTITUDE
Dedication:
This book is dedicated to the Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, my papa, and mentors Rev. Dr. Joseph Nyarko-Antwi of Christian Action Faith International and Rev. Leslie Tex Obuabasa who raised me up. My Papa, the Archbishop, Duncan-Williams saw my potential at the early stages of his ministry; he called me from among the congregation to stay with him, having adopted me as a member of his own family. He and Mama Francisca nurtured me and eventually sent me on a scholarship to the Harvest Bible College, United Kingdom, to study and prepare for the ministry. I salute you papa and my all spiritual mentors who watched over me and took keen interest in my spiritual development at a time when no one knew me let alone believed in me. Your investment in me is not in vain. Thank you so much for believing in me.
Thanks to my wife, Sharon, for her unflinching and unalloyed support for all the difficult times in my life and ministry. Your support and loyalty remained undaunted.
Acknowledgements:
Thanks a million to Karen Bruin and Tanya Chikanza who have spurred me on. Your friendship and encouragement, the many hours of typing and editing have been a motivating factor in producing this material. God richly bless you.
Introduction:
We in live a world where we are always talking about ‘our rights’. Subsequently we have developed a ‘rights mentality’ towards everyone and everything. This ‘rights attitude’ has surreptitiously crept into our spirituality and has resulted in a thankless attitude towards God for the good He does for us.
Furthermore, we seem to express the same sentiments towards our governments and Local Authorities. We feel they owe us a living. Being consumed by greed and avarice, even in things we could do for ourselves, we still crave the government’s handouts because they are ‘our rights.’ For instance some people deliberately make themselves sick and refuse to get well because as long as they remain in a state of incapacity, their needs will be borne by the State, simply because it is a right.
Have you ever thought about how these rights came about? Many have had to lay down their lives for the peace and freedom we so enjoy today. We have become a nation of moaners; we moan about everything but ourselves. We complain about the weather, the NHS, our educational system, our teachers,
