    Foreword

I started playing guitar in 2002. Prior to this, I had several guitar playing friends who used to entertain and create an atmosphere. They played popular songs we could all sing to, as well as their own creations. When we all went our separate ways, as is the way in Toronto, I started to play.

I did not take any lessons, which made the process longer and more difficult than it probably needed to be. I, however, wanted my sound to be as organic and of myself as possible. I was looking for a way to amplify and enhance my writing, rather than to compose music that others would envy. That did come with time.

Vox & String is my collection of songs and spoken word written from 2002 - 2011. In the early days I wrote to entertain myself, as well as to work through my own issues. Some of the songs were adapted from poems I had written years earlier, but were purposeful for my own needs. I found that singing is a lot like meditating. Singing the same songs repeatedly keeps the mind focused on the issue, and allows one to work through the good and bad.

The cited period represents my most productive period of song writing to date. I continue to write songs, but with age unfortunately comes greater responsibilities, and less time to devote to such pursuits.
