About this ebook

Priyasha Nehru was visited by a woman, who had exactly the same figure as hers. It was not Lavanya, her twin sister, but someone else. In the video footage showing two Priyashas, one stabbed the other. As Lavanya entered the room, she witnessed the shocking scene. Did a 'gifted' commit the murder?

In City, Riccardo Albani was investigating the serial murder cases, in which only the elders of twins were killed. He and Milo, his friend, were seen using a gift by his coworker, and their secrets were not safe anymore.
In the meantime, a mysterious prisoner broke out of jail, and he was entrapping Milo and his friends to prevent them from learning too much about the serial murders ...

The author Ryosuke Akizuki artfully mesmerizes the readers with his gift in this fourth installment (Vol.4) of "The Gifted" series.

    Prologue

The bluish white moon was shedding dim light on a dark alley.

In the darkness, Priyasha Nehru was walking along the boundary of the City Landscape Zone at a leisurely pace.

Looking up, she saw a clock tower of a church in the distance. The hour hand of the clock, bathed in the gentle moonlight, was almost passing by the 11 p.m. character.

Her tanned arms and legs were seductively looming in the moonlight. As if her figure provoked the lust of male passersby, drunken men sometimes turned their feverish gazes on her. Priyasha ignored them completely and walked into a back alley, lit by slight glows of street lamps.

As she was walking in the narrow path sandwiched between filthy walls, she approached rusty, steel stairs to her right.

At the east end of the landscape zone stood several buildings that had become relics of the past and been so dilapidated to the level that they were too worthless to be of any historic value. They were not well-maintained, but popular among lower income earners and school students because of the reasonably priced rents.

Priyasha was slowly climbing up the stairs. Knocking sounds, made from her soles striking the steel stairs, echoed rhythmically in the silent back alley.

As soon as she reached the top of the stairs, she was standing on a stone floor instead of a steel platform. Priyasha opened a filthy, wooden door and entered the building. The doors of the several rooms were lined up on both sides of the stone corridor inside the building. Priyasha stopped at the second door on the right, and rang the bell.

    Who’s there?

A young feminine voice sounded from inside the room. Priyasha slowly responded through the door.

    Sis, it’s me.

Oh, is it you, Lavanya? What brought you here at such a late hour?

The door was opened slightly with the sound of unlocking.

I have something to tell you.

Priyasha in the corridor said so and smiled to the woman inside the room. The woman, another Priyasha, in the room saw the visitor who was having exactly the same physical appearance as she did. She showed a suspicious look for a moment, but welcomed the visitor into the room.

Actually, I was just practicing dancing.

While saying so, the woman picked up cups from the cupboard to prepare some tea. Contrary to the weathered exterior of the building, the interior of the room was straightened up, neatly and cleanly. It seemed to have only two rooms; the dining kitchen and the bedroom. The mattress was folded up at the corner of the bedroom. Apparently, she had been practicing her dancing in the available space.

The visitor, Priyasha, did not sit at a chair but stole up behind the owner of the room, the other Priyasha, who was putting a pot onto a stove to boil water.

    Then, what’s the matter?

The room-owner Priyasha looked back. She was a bit surprised by her another self having been standing right behind her, but still managed to generate a gentle smile.

"Hey, can’t you tell that there is something strange about
