About this ebook

As told in poetic verse, the love stories of Ebony and Samson is one rich with longing, passion, and erotic imagery. Both are with pain and it is pain that will lead them to doing things that are unconventional and immoral. But in the end, they will meet up with each other. And when both come to grips with their reality, love will never be lost again.

Ebony—a woman wounded by the callousness of men—wants to be loved and to love.
But how can she find love in such a small sexist and racist world? Her own kind doesn’t even embrace her. So who is left to embrace Ebony?

Samson—a man who has succumbed to the lure of too many demons drenched in perfume—wants more than just the pleasures of the flesh. He seeks someone to love, but he doubts that this special woman is out there for him.

Sheldon Hollis is an author, poet, and screenwriter. He dreams of cementing a legacy but knows that to do that, he must first blueprint that legacy.

Hello, my name is Sheldon Hollis. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. September 1, 1993 is when an artists was born. I am an author, poet, and screen writer. My dream is to cement a legacy that will live on forever. But I know to cement a legacy you must first blueprint your legacy. In life nothing comes easy but you should want it to be that way. If there were no road blocks, what story would you have to tell? How would history remember you. Every day, when I wake up, I think about my legacy. I wonder, sometimes, how people will remember me. To create a legacy, you have to first create a blueprint. And when you're done creating your blueprint, you start sculpting out your legacy. This journey will be long but I know this journey will pay off. Legacy is hard to achieve but I know my legacy will be remembered.

    Introduction

Upon the night there is a woman of different shades. She is hopeless, lost, and without affection. She is a woman who is waiting for her Night and Shining Armor to return. But her Night and Shining Armor won’t return until death becomes the new light. Love is what she craves. To her everything in the world should revolve around love. No matter what time of the day whether it’s night or day. As she prays all she does is think about love. Darkness starts to creep in when she realizes that love is forever lost. And when darkness creeps in, light shatters away like broken mirrors. And without light darkness takes the place of happiness and contentment. To fill that emptiness she goes out and searches for men who will tell her that she is beautiful. Men who will compliment her on everything from her hair to her feet. Men who will bring her roses with poetic words. As her journey becomes shadowy, she gives her heart to wolves who only want her for her jewels. It’s not about the kind of heart she has or the kindness that she projects onto other individuals. It’s not about what she can offer them in a consensual relationship. It’s about intimacy and what she can offer them in the bedroom for one night.

Till this day, she moves from place to place trying to find her way through this jungle we call life. She runs across many deserts but even the hottest sands can’t stop her from achieving what she wants to achieve. As beautiful as a rose but looking at her you can tell that she is still damaged. Independent, strong, and classy, but still, to most men, she lacks the whole package. The woman I am speaking of is a woman named Ebony. To understand Ebony and her struggles you would have to go all the way back to the beginning. To understand Ebony’s journey you would have to walk through darkness. Darkness that is suffocating and relentless. Ebony is the creator of all colors but there seems to be division amongst those who see her differently. The dark side of Ebony is ridiculed and demonized, while the light side of Ebony is uplifted and glamorized. Ebony looks among the stars but the stars have nothing to offer. Everyone talks about the fall of man, but nobody talks about the fall of woman. Ebony is the prime example of the fall of woman. Ebony is lost in a web of deception. The only thing that can untangle her from this web is the man that cries in the dark.

Beauty has left and now this man is left to fend for himself in the darkness. Every candle that is lit is blown out by the winds that are fierce and chilly. He is watched over by demons who are without souls. He dances with the devil when his room becomes cold. When demons leave, all is left are memories and voices. The woman, he once loved, has left him because of his unwise choices. In search for a hand to be held but the only hand that is available is his own. Smiling faces, or should I say memories, are plastered on the walls. He reminisces about those smiling faces since those smiling faces left so long ago. To escape those smiling faces he goes out and walks the streets. Streets that are dark, cold, and without compassion. Sometimes he walks through fields that are forbidden. But nothing is forbidden when you are a man who has nothing else to lose. Like every other man, he has a weakness. His weakness is his flesh and nothing can fulfill this man’s appetite for his taste for intimacy is unsustainable. Temptation rises and, like every other man, he takes the bait. He falls into a web of deception and temptation. He catches himself in the acts of infidelity. And it is infidelity that has brought him a life of loneliness and sorrow. He wonders through the wilderness like a lost man with questions. He is like every man who sleeps alone. Cold, lonely, and only able to cry when there is darkness.

The man I am speaking of is a man named Samson. A man with a great will but a man who seems to have lost his identity. He comes in contact with demons who are draped in the most luxurious attire. He dances with devils who come smelling like sapphire. He gets himself caught in a web of unconventionality, and for his unconventionality he will suffer great losses. To cure his lost and depression he indulges in alcohol and other substances that once brought promise. The alcohol numbs his pain, and the cocaine takes him higher than
