The Spiritual Health Solution For You - Eryeza Kalalu
The COVID-19 lockdown stopped several programs & routines. Except, you can’t just pause certain things. Days keep going and we keep counting. The month of May is remarkable for me. My wife’s birthday and our 6th wedding anniversary happened this May, on 7th and 10th, respectively. I, therefore, dedicate this piece to my darling & beloved wife, Geraldine. Congratulations & thanks, for creating an atmosphere where I can serve God and His people. I also dedicate this booklet to all mothers in the world.
Preface
It’s an exciting time to be alive, regardless of the challenges of the day. It is a natural response to look back to the days behind us, and say, I wish we could travel back in time.
But the Lord hasn’t afforded us that liberty. He warned us, Do not say, ‘why were the former days better than these?...
(Ecc. 7:10). That said, to the believer, the hope of the Lord’s return should bring excitement about the days ahead while ensuring spiritual hygiene - thus the need for a book on spiritual health. Here it is. At the end of each Chapter there is a prayer to jumpstart your conversation with God, and a declaration that will help you give a voice to the truth you will encounter. Enjoy the reading.

Living From The Heart
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one c an see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
— Antoine de Saint-Exupery
We’re fond of underestimating our power. Often, we exercise authority over external environments, but think we can’t control what lies within us. Such thinking causes you to believe that you are a master of things and not a master over self.
Now, I don’t intend to mean we are our own masters and the Lord is not. God has given us a responsibility to tame ourselves; He has given us the Spirit and the spiritual fruit of self-control. And once we cannot control what happens within us, it matters less what we seem to control in the physical. You might control others so well, yet cannot control yourself.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
—Proverbs 16:32.
Many take pride in their external empires; businesses, institutions, careers, degrees, and fame. The COVID-19 pandemic struck a chord; these, too, can come to a standstill, leaving us to ourselves and close relations. I have heard from friends whom the COVID-19 lockdown found in their homes, alone. Controlling yourself and taking charge of your inner life is much more important than any form of success you may achieve on the outside. From God’s view, you ought to live from the inside-out and not the other way round. Victory over the heart’s vices is more important than victory over cities.
When you stop minding your inner condition, and spiritual weeds take root, you destroy your entire life: family, business, career and marriage.
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
—Proverbs 25:28.
Isn’t it the time to stop and consider what lies within your heart? What are your dominant thoughts? Have you subdued them, or do you give them room to grow and thrive?
What comes out of the heart is your greatest threat. The events happening around you are gateways to your heart, but you must seek to challenge those inlets with the truth of God’s word. Then you will not bring forth what the world has fed you, but will instead produce fruits that proceed from pure inner convictions.
You and I have a responsibility to guard our hearts jealously and diligently. This is because your spirit lights up your life and supplies you with the strength, wisdom, and inspiration to approach life, life’s opportunities, and its challenges. The Lord spoke about the importance of a person’s inner life in chatting the course for life.
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
—Proverbs 4:23 (AMPC)
But there is [a vital force] a spirit [of intelligence] in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives men understanding.
—Job 32:8 (AMPC)
Guard your heart, therefore, more than you guard your bank account or wallet.
When evil thoughts creep in, deal with them. As soon as disastrous attitudes develop, trample over them,
