Introduction
I'm Brad Knight and I'm Renea Evers. We never dreamed that our lives would turn out like they did. We started dating in high school when I kissed Brad out of nervousness because he made me speechless.
You can imagine how I felt when she kissed me, not only because I liked her since kindergarten, but because I loved her. I am so glad that she kissed me that day. If she hadn't, I have no idea where I would be right now. Probably with some girl that I didn't even want, still thinking about her.
Yeah, and I would probably be with some loser rather than Brad. So, I'm also glad that I kissed him that day. He was my dream, day and night since the third grade. I actually daydreamed about him. Now I have him.
She surprised me with some news, before our wedding. It took her awhile to tell me, but when she did it relieved her. For some reason, she thought that I didn't want what she had to tell me. Finally, she blurted those words, I'm pregnant. I was the happiest man alive at this point, having everything that I ever wanted.
I bumped into the wife of the person that caused Brad's accident that almost took all of this away from him. And, he yelled at me in front of our company on New Year's Eve, because I wanted him to be friends with them but he couldn't. Every time he saw them he thought about him, Johnathan was his name. I did understand where he was coming from though.
We lost Michael. It killed Renea inside, it took a part of her that she had set aside just for him. She was so upset, I didn't know what to do. All I was able to do was be there for her and I was. It was never a second guess for me, I always wanted to help and protect her.
I had complications having the baby, I was bleeding
internally and they had to give me a hysterectomy to save my life. I was bothered by this for awhile. Then I realized at least I'm here with Brad that's all that matters to me.
Loey and Carl had twins Mya and Jackson. And, finally got married, after they both thought that one another was losing interest.
Chapter 1:Renea
Many of you know me by Renea Evers. The shy girl who landed the high school hunk, and my one and only true love. It's a long story, so for those of you who don't know me, I will recap quickly what happened.
I was in love with Brad Knight for as long as I could remember. Always daydreaming about having him in my life as more than a friend. One day my dream came true during a motorcycle rally.
I entered a biker contest and won runner up, my friend Loey won the title. After the contest, Loey's boyfriend Carl and his best friend Brad were waiting for us to exit the stage.
Brad grabbed me and hugged me, making me speechless. I kissed him. From then on we were inseparable. Until his ex Carrie started harassing me. She and her friends made my first few weeks of school a living hell.
Fighting with me, harassing me, and even getting physical with me. It began too be to much to handle, especially when my friends were beginning to be pulled into the middle of everything.
It got to the point where my friends and I, including Brad, actually got taken to the police station because of the fighting. Brad was always angry and upset for me. I blamed myself and broke up with him because I couldn't handle his pain. In my mind, this was the only way to stop it.
I hated seeing him hurt all of the time. But after a few weeks, I realized that breaking up with him made us both feel worse. It was hard to just look at each other without crying.
While we were broke up Brad still comforted me. I couldn't believe how understanding he was through all of this. He never left go of what we had. Always telling me that he would wait
and give me all the time that I needed.
One night we went out with Carl and Loey. Carl dropped us off at school to get our cars. After Brad left me, Carrie and Andrew jumped me. He fought for me even though I broke his heart. I loved him so much and loved what he did for me.
I ended up taking him back. I couldn't stand being away from him. Our love for each other was so strong that it hurt just being away from each other, not only emotionally but physically. I couldn't apologize enough to Brad for what I did to him.
My dad had Carrie and Andrew arrested. Brad and I were back to normal and very happy. The day my court hearing came Brad wasn't able to take Andrews testimony so he took off. This is the day, I thought I was going to lose him forever.
He was in an accident. Having swelling on the brain, the doctor didn't know if he would make it. As a matter of fact, he was almost sure. He told us if he did make it that he might have brain damage and loss of memory.
I was hoping for more, it was Christmas time, this would have been Brad and I's first Christmas together. I refused to leave his side. Staying with him day and night. Talking to him playing music for him. Reminding him of the love that we had for each other.
One day he woke up. 2 days before Christmas. You can imagine how happy I was just to have him back. I didn't even care if he had brain damage. My love for him was so strong I would have stayed by his side no matter what.
It turned out that he had no brain damage and the only memory loss he had was of his accident. He couldn't wait to be at home with me again. Come Christmas Eve he was released. He took me out to eat and to a field that I call the Firefly field
and proposed to me.
That's how we got to where we are now. I'm so happy that he never gave up on me. I love him more now than I ever did. My love for him only gets stronger every day. And, I can't wait until I become Mrs. Brad Knight.
So, our big day is going to be Christmas Eve because this was the day that God gave us the gift of Brad coming back. And, Brad and I wanted to celebrate our marriage on this very day to thank God for his precious gift.
We have so much planning to do, I'm hoping that I can hold it all together. With the help of Loey, Becky, Jake, and Carl we should be okay. These guys are the most amazing friends that anyone could ask for.
I wouldn't change my life right now for anything. I am so happy. And, I can not wait for our big day to come. Our wedding party is small Loey is my maid of honor, Becky is a bridesmaid and Loey, yeah I forgot to mention she and Carl had twins.
A girl they named Mya, she will be my flower girl. The boy they named Jackson, he is the ring bearer. Carl, of course, is the best man and then Jake. Now that we have the wedding party picked out, all we need to do is everything.
If you are married, you definitely know what I mean by everything. Dresses, flowers, tux's, ceremony, reception, and all that good stuff. So, I guess I better get started instead of sitting here doing nothing.
I have to pick the colors first and everybody that knows me knows that my favorite color is pink. I called Loey and Becky to meet me at the dress store. While I was waiting I browsed around.
I found the prettiest dress, it was hot pink, sleeveless v-cut, bustled at the bust and waist. It had ruffles on the right side
from the waist to the floor and being floor length I thought it would be perfect for the cold air. I added pink wraps to match.
I also browsed some wedding gowns while I was waiting. This was harder because I wanted to look perfect for Brad. Even though I could probably wear my famous sweatpants and t-shirt, he would think I look gorgeous.
But, I was determined to find the dress that would wow him. Since he has always treated me like a princess I wanted to look like one for him.
Just as I found the dress that caught my eyes Loey and Becky walked in with Mya. Let's do this
Loey said with a smile.
Yeah, I'm ready to get this rolling.
Becky agreed.
You girls seem more anxious than me,
I said with a laugh.
Now, you know we are Renea. Becky and I have been waiting for this day longer than Brad and you. You two belong together forever.
Alright, let's go over here to the fitting area.
We walked over to the fitting rooms and the seamstress came out with the dress that I picked. To my surprise Loey and Becky both loved them.
I love it. What about you Becky?
Loey asked.
It's great. I really love the bright color. Can I go first?
Becky answered with a smile.
I don't care which one goes first. I just want to see how pretty you two look in them.
Becky grabbed the dress and ran to the fitting room. When she walked out she looked gorgeous. The color of the dress made her dark complexion pop and her eyes stand out. She no longer had burgundy hair, it was the normal dark brown almost black.
Loey went next. When she walked out she was breathtaking. The dress made her Barbie-like features stand out, making her look like a real-life Barbie.
What do you think Renea? Do Becky and I look like superstars?
Yes, you two may overshadow me.
That's completely impossible. You're to gorgeous for that
Becky said.
Thank you, Becky,
I said with a bow. I grabbed Mya's hand, It's your turn now Mya. Let's make you look like a superstar.
She put a big smile on her face and followed me to the flower girl dresses.
She grabbed a dress from the rack it was white with a sequin top, a pink ribbon belt wrapped around the waist and a fluffy tulle bottom.
Do you like this one Mya?
Yeah, I do. It will make me look like a princess.
Guess what? I do too. Come on we'll try it on.
I took her into the fitting room and put the dress on her. The look on her face was priceless. I look like a princess Aunt Renea. Don't I?
You sure do. Is this the dress you want?
Yeah, I want this one.
Well then go tell the lady. That way she can get it all fixed up for you.
Okay.
She grabbed my hand and dragged me to the seamstress, This one. This is the one I want. It makes me look like a princess,
She told the seamstress.
That
s the perfect dress for you Mya. Can I measure you?"
Yes, mam.
Alright, I need you to stand perfectly still so that I can pin it up.
I was so amazed at how well she behaved, considering that she was only 3. She stood completely still for the seamstress. Once she was finished, she did not want to give that dress back.
Why can't I take it now Mommy,
she asked crying.
Because the nice lady has to fix it all up for you.
But why?
So it fits you perfect for Aunt Renea and Uncle Brads wedding. Then you will look like a true princess.
Okay, mommy. Can I help Aunt Renea pick a dress?
I don't think that she would mind that. Why don't you ask her?
She walked up to me and pulled my hand, Come on Aunt Renea. It's your turn.
We looked through the wedding gowns, she pulled me to the same one that caught my eye before they showed up. You like this one Mya?
Yeah, it will make you look like a princess too.
Well, I'll take it and try it on. How bout that?
She grabbed my hand and dragged me back to the fitting rooms. I walked in and stared at myself in the mirror. This is finally happening I said. I took the gown off of the hanger and hung it on a garment hook.
Stepping into it carefully, I pulled it up slowly. My eyes popped. This was it the perfect gown. It was strapless with diamond looking sequins on the top half.
The bottom was made of tulle and flared out. It was naturally puffy due to the material. The train was made of silk. Each side wrapped around the front and hooked to clips on my waist. This made it look like a Cinderella gown.
When I stepped out of the room, Becky and Loey both looked at me in amazement.
That's it. That's the one. You look like Cinderella.
Loey said in excitement.
Becky cupped her mouth with both hands and tears dripped from her eyes, You look beautiful, Renea.
I hugged them both and thanked them. I thanked them again for everything that they have done for me.
Mya looked at me, Aunt Renea. You look just like a princess. Uncle Brad will love it.
I gave her a hug and asked. You think so?
Yep.
She said in her sweet voice.
It amazed me at how well she spoke and communicated with people. She was a very smart and pretty little girl. She and Jackson both had features of Loey and Carl with brownish- blonde hair and blue eyes. So you can just imagine how cute they were.
After the seamstress was done fitting me, we all headed out to grab some food. We went to the burger joint, every time I walked into the place it brought back good and bad memories for me.
The good ones outweighed the bad ones, but the main memory that always hit me is the day that we got arrested. I still blamed myself for that day. We took a booth and ordered.
I was reminiscing and Loey asked, Renea? What's wrong?
It's just this place. Every time I come in here I have flashbacks of the day that we got arrested.
That's all in the past now. You and Brad are going to get married. Carrie is gone, out of your lives. It's all working out. Just like I told you it would.
I know, Loey. Thank you for being such a good friend for all of these years.
She gave me a hug and said, You're welcome. I told you that I would always be here for you no matter what. Now can we have some fun?
You're right. It's time to forget about the past, live in the present, live for the future, and live now.
That's the attitude we want Renea,
Becky said.
We ordered our food, sitting there talking I noticed Carrie walk in the door.
She walked up to me, Hey Renea, I just want to tell you congratulations on you and Brad getting married. I'm happy for you two.
Thank you, Carrie. When did you get back to town?
A couple of weeks ago. I'm only here for about another week. Then I head back to the big city.
I hope you're doing well for yourself.
I am. And I want to apologize to you for everything, I did to you in high school. I'm very sorry.
Thank you again, Carrie. I appreciate that. But, it's in the past now. You have a good day.
You too Renea. I hope your big day goes well.
Thank you.
She looked at Loey and Becky, Bye guys. See ya around sometime.
See ya. Bye.
Loey said with attitude.
Bye,
Becky said.
They both looked at me with a strange look of confusion. What? What did I do now?
Renea, why would you even bother with her. All the things she did to you. It's not right.
Loey said, with Becky agreeing.
I am completely aware of what she did to Brad and I. Remember that it was me, not you guys. I grew up since then. I have to live for me now.
Yeah, but...
Is all Becky out.
Look! It was in the past. I need to live in the now. In my present, in my future for Brad and I, no one else.
Alright, enough of that talk. So now what. What do we do now for the wedding plans?
Well, Becky. We need to pick flowers and we still never booked a place for the reception.
Flowers, I love flowers. Can I help please.
Mya added.
Sure Mya, I would be happy to let you help. What kind of flowers do you like?
All kinds Aunt Renea. When can we go look?
How bout when we are done eating? Does that sound good to you?
Yep. I'm ready.
We finished eating and made our way to the flower shop. Walking through the door was like stepping into a fairy tale. There was so much to pick from. I thought about Brad again, he always gave me pink roses.
Hey guys, what do you think about pink roses? Brad gives them to me all the time.
That sounds good. Let's go see what she has and what she can do.
Loey said.
We went up to the florist, Excuse me, mam.
When she looked up it was Chelsy. Chelsy! I didn't know you worked here.
Oh..Hey, Renea. I started here about a year ago. How can I help you?
I'm looking for the perfect pink rose for my bouquets. Can you show me what you have?
Sure follow me.
She took us to a big cooler that was filled with any color rose possible. I was in awe. Here's everything we have. If you don't like the pink we have, we are able to die them. Like this.
She pointed to a row of bright neon color roses that were died. My mind was overwhelmed. I had no idea what I wanted
now. Just staring at the roses Loey asked, Renea, are you still with us?
Sorry, I had no idea that it would be this hard to pick a flower.
Becky asked, What about this? Just get them dyed the color that you want. How's that sound to you Mya?
I think Aunt Becky is right. You can get the same color as the dresses Aunt Renea.
This little girl cracked me up. Standing here talking to us like she was an adult, but I loved it. She was the most adorable little girl.
Okay, Mya. You and Aunt Becky talked me into it.
Chelsy, here is a swatch of the color can you test it and try to get this color?
"Yes, I can do that. It will take a few days. As soon as the die takes I will give you a call. You can come check to see if the color is
