Introduction
When we include the word ‘it’ in our conversation, the meaning can be an abstract or specific idea. Imagine standing in a car lot, looking into the endless sea of cars available. From afar off, you tell the salesperson, That’s it.
The salesperson is likely to be unaware of exactly what car your ‘it’ is referring to. But if you’re standing next to the desired vehicle, pointing with excitement, saying, This is it!
chances are the salesperson is very clear which vehicle your ‘it’ refers to.
It’s quite likely that you had an idea of what kind of car you wanted before you went car shopping. However, you were unclear as to the exact location of the car. Hence, you had to search for it, but one thing is certain, when you saw it, you knew it was just the one for you. Identifying it was the first conquering moment; completing the process to drive the car off the lot is perhaps the most challenging--especially for first time buyers. Even after you get the keys, it’s still up to you to drive to your intended destination.
How many times do we stand at the corridor of life, looking out at the endless opportunities available to us? After seeing an appealing opportunity you feel you’ve been called to, from a distance you confess, That’s it!
Those around you are clueless as to which ‘it’ you’re referring to, because, like you, they see a plethora of opportunities from a great distance. If you’re fortunate, someone will hear the passion in your tone when you talk about ‘it’, and will help you move closer toward ‘it’. You stand side by side with your dreams, aspirations, and goals. Finally, you’re able to point and share with others, This is it--this is want I want to do.
Fully aware that a desire is not the final step toward the goal, you begin to contemplate the necessary steps to complete the process in order to achieve your dreams. Learning what you need to do can perhaps be more overwhelming than actually doing it! However, with relentless tenacity and vigor, overcoming every obstacle and barrier, you complete the process to gain access to your dreams. At that point you’ve moved from searching for what to do to identifying what it is you are called to do. You became a student to learn what is required of you in order to be successful and make an impact.
Now you stand on the other side of excitement with keys to access your destiny. Soon, you’re shocked to realize that having knowledge and resources isn’t the end. Instead, you receive a memo that informs you that your success now depends on you. You have to package everything you’ve learned, and dismiss fear. And just like the driver of that beautiful vehicle,
