PREFACE

Marriage and all that characterises it has always been the worries of many a youth who are of age. The contemporary challenges of marriage has raised doubts about marriage in the mind of youths and those interested in marriage. More so, the present conception of marriage has brought about delay in marriage.

Man, ab initio, is indeed a contingent being that has litanies of needs and wants. These needs and wants, are differently anchored as some have societal demands, while others have both egoistic and family demands. These meritorious aspects of man typically points to the fact that man is not an island as his political, social and spiritual possibilities have lots of impacts on his being. It is on the basis of these, especially in consideration of his generational importance that were made significantly possible through the conjugal acts that necessitated his (man’s) ingress. Tracing back to history, especially in biblical aspects, God established a fundamental union between man and woman. He did this so that man can increase and multiply so as to fill the earth surface. It is on the basis of this order by the Creator (God) that the marriage union is divinely approved.

The causes of these delays in marriage and marital challenges, have made all churches and prayer houses to be filled by youths who are in search of the panacea to this unique problem. As if not enough, many a youth have been found and in most cases, given health challenging drugs and concoctions as some fake pastors are on the high increase. Consequent on this, you will hear some pastors in their psycho-rating statements to the youths in churches say, You must get married this year. This academic, moral and self-searching literal piece is neither to castigate pastors nor to question the Omnipotent nature of God; it is rather meant to reasonably think aloud on many prophecies of some pastors that do not come to pass as they wish. Certainly, I do not overtly ascertain that my thoughts are typically divine or have medical proves, rather, the thoughts of this masterpiece are based on existential experience, interactions and observations that were evident on the current attitudes and mindsets of the youth.

We keep noticing the rapid increase in the number of youths—ladies and guys—that are growing every day and it seems that these growths are not balancing the ratio of unmarried youths to married youths. Significantly, it appears that the number of unmarried ladies seem to outnumber that of young men. The societal demands in reference to this have put so many ladies under pressure, for they are continually reminded of their need to settle down. This marital demand becomes more worrisome to ladies especially at their late 30’s.
