FOREWORD

The topic of this book is of great contemporary importance as marriages, and indeed families, are in serious difficulty all over the world. God’s plan is that His people should not be alone and He therefore established marriage as an institution by bringing Adam and Eve together. However, a very high proportion of marriages are breaking apart, resulting in a loss of companionship and harmony for both the husband and wife. The author of this book, The Winning Wife, has shown that the wife plays a very significant role in sustaining the home and having a successful marriage.

One major point made in this book is that much of the potential success of a marriage and likelihood that the wife will win come even before the marriage is established. A major characteristic of the winning wife is a strong relationship with God and strong leading from God to go into this marriage. Among the other aspects that are identified as precipitating factors for the success or failure of the marriage include the reasons for getting married, including the effect of pressure upon the lady to get married, the relationship that the man and woman have with each other and the couple’s family backgrounds, especially the success or otherwise of the marriages of the parents on both sides.

The book also looks at the important qualities of a wife who strives to win in her marriage. She must be God-fearing, prayerful, humble and trustworthy. She must also be loving, patient and hard-working as she contributes to the family welfare. Her relationship with her husband’s family, particularly his mother, can greatly affect whether she will be a winning wife or not.

While every marriage experiences challenges and both the husband and wife will face offenses, the winning wife is one who seeks after the wisdom of God. If a couple can establish a God-centered home, both the husband and wife will win.

This book is easy to read and yet full of very useful insights particularly to wives and wives-to-be so that they can be successful in their home and thereby lead a fulfilled life. It should be recommended reading not only to married couples, but those who are about to embark on the journey of marriage. If women can follow the valuable advice contained in this set of guidelines, they will no doubt be on the winning lane.
